I Spent $175K on Self-Help. Here's What Nobody Told Me
I just published the most personal thing I've ever written. Full story here: https://aligncore.ai/letters/i-spent-175k-on-self-help/ The short version: I spent 15 years and $175,000 from my inherited childhood home trying to fix myself. Self-help books. Motivational seminars. A SPECT brain scan where they told me my brain had small dips like someone had been scooping it out with a tiny spoon to taste it like frozen yogurt. They prescribed a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and $600-every-six-months supplements. I stopped ordering a year ago. I'm still alive. I bought 250 copies of Ed Mylett's book just to spend a day at his house. His neighbors were Adele and Justin Bieber. He was tan and intense and cool. I cheered. I felt awe. But deep down all of it felt like a stage performance: beautiful, emotional, motivational... but rehearsed. It's like I was watching a 2025 video generation AI produce an intimate scene in real time right in front of me: cool looking. No real intimacy. At least that's what I saw with the mindset that I had at that time. I didn't realize that until later. I did 75 Hard while working nine-hour FedEx routes. Made it 28 days before I started forgetting package numbers and losing my train of thought mid-sentence. My manager said I was one of the fastest AND most accurate drivers they'd ever had. So the discipline was clearly there. The direction wasn't. None of it stuck. Not because the advice was bad because I think every single guru taught me something real. But I never stopped to ask the obvious question: does this make sense for ME? I figured it out by accident. I was SO excited when this feature came out: I connected ChatGPT to my journals in Notion. I was looking for patterns. I was looking for anything that could give me something. Something that made sense to me. A sign that I had core values. That I had a North Star. The response made me tear up. A thread I'd never seen: every meaningful thing I'd ever done (the dance crew with my brothers, the dot technique I invented for Color Guard, the systems I built at every job) was the same thing.

@Mark Townsend i couldn't have said it better myself, Mark! you put it together beautifully. if we can pair that intensity with real and aligned clarity we can thrive more powerfully and in turn the people we crave to be around will see that newfound energy and abundance through alignment.

@Shelly Paige very true, shelly. the way i think about it is. most of us got really good at learning about the world but never spent any real time learning about ourselves. you pick a degree because it looks cool or pays well, you grind until you're one of the best in that field, and then you wake up one day feeling completely dead inside. smart enough to dominate your lane but clueless about what actually makes you come alive. that's the gap. we become experts at everything except ourselves. what i'm building is basically a system that helps you think through your own stuff your patterns, your strengths, your values and then plan from THAT instead of from what some external system told you to want. and the wild part is when you repeat that process, your self-understanding compounds. you start making decisions faster because you actually know what fits and what doesn't. it's not about ignoring the outside world. it's about stopping the habit of ignoring yourself for the sake of external gain. @Mark Townsend nailed it! beautifully said
Your Business is Ready. Are You?
Most of us don’t struggle because we lack a plan or a skill. We struggle because a part of us is still on mute. You can be posting, learning, and ‘doing the work.’ But if your inner dialogue is whispering “who am I to do this?” while your hands are typing the sales page… you’re at war with yourself. This isn’t just a mindset block. It’s a profit leak. We were conditioned to outsource our truth... to seek permission, certainty, and validation from everywhere but within. That pattern doesn't just stifle creativity; it silences pricing confidence, dilutes offers, and keeps brilliant work in the drafts folder. You cannot build a bold business with a hesitant identity. Here’s a 60-second practice to reconnect (no fixing, no forcing): The Founder's Gut Check 1. Pause. Take one deep breath. 2. Say to yourself: “I need more credentials before I can charge this.” 3. Don’t think. Just feel. Does your body feel expansive (open, calm) or contracting (tight, heavy)? 4. Now try: “My experience is valid, and my offer creates real change.” 5. Notice the shift. Name it. Expansive or Contracting? Your nervous system holds a truth your overthinking mind debates. An expansive feeling is a green light. A contracting one is your body’s red flag. This week, use this check before you: - Hesitate to post that Reel - Discount your price - Say “I’m just brainstorming” instead of “I’m building” Drop a👇 below with one word: what came up for you EXPANSIVE or CONTRACTING? Start here. Your clarity... and your profit... are on the other side of that answer.

"Don't ask for permission. Ask for forgiveness." - Tim Ferris "Physics is the only thing that you can't defy. Everything else is up for grabs." - Tom Bilyeu “When you grow up you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money. That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: And that is—everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.” - Steve Jobs

I am Aleksej "Physix" Mialitsin. As of October 2025, I am delivering my first Physics Intro course, https://sp2.craft.me/physics-intro-autumn2025-fizika7, to my first student: a returning student after completing a Summer Pilot. The course fee collected in September currently provides a four-month runway (until around New Year's) for the LLC's monthly expenses. *What problem does your business SOLVE or who would you like to SERVE?* My online physics school aims to provide the STEM prerequisites skills for aspiring AP-level high school students, four-year college STEM majors, and community college students with an engineering focus. *Where are you in the world 🌍?* Denver, CO, USA *What gets you FIRED UP about building something that matters?* Testing abstract math against the universe is sanity in a noisy age. While societal narratives multiply, nature still operates according to its laws. Deflect a pendulum, and it will swing as its length and gravity dictate. There aren’t two ways about it. ... What fires me up? 🔥First-principles reasoning that checks out with reality ✔️. *Ready to build something that doesn’t just pay the bills but changes lives (starting with YOURS)?* Yes! Community outreach, bringing physics demos to Denver colleges, would be the ultimate dream! https://vimeo.com/164479968/ab6039052a *What do you like to do for fun? 😊* Locking horns with nature, snowboarding 🏂 in winter, and white water rafting 🚣‍♂️ in summer. *Cat or Dog person... or other?* Bird person 🐥. I have a parakeet named Quetzalcóatl.

idk why I found the video fascinating. I found myself asking "what about the weight, density, mass, size, shape, and any nuanced shapes and indentations on the object, etc and how does it affect the timing? mind you I don't think I took physics or don't remember that I took physics in high school but ever since I started thinking about physics and first principles thinking I end up being super curious about things like this. An off-topic example is when I did research into AlignCore and how I'm supposed to scale a specific thing (I was exploring philanthropic efforts and how physics come into play) I ended up with the conclusion that companies that end up doing things like Tom's shoes where for every pair of shoes bought they end up giving a pair of shoes is great but there are physics involved and is not very scalable because physical resources are involved, time, and physical effort as well. And I wanted to explore exceptionally scalable ways to provide that AlignCore could possibly do that don't ignore laws of physics. I kinda forgot what I ended deciding on because it's very far into the future from MVP stage I think but at least I know how to think about it. I know it's very basic and it doesn't get into the nuances of physics like the math the goes into it but if I ever end up doing something that involves needing to decide something like that again I'll know that physics and first principles thinking is the way to go.

I promised myself, @Lydie Molina and everyone else in the group that I’d complete the co-writing feature. The co-writing feature is an AI journaling tool that helps you to uncover your foundational elements (your natural and biological wiring) with the ability to remember and update them as you evolve. This is the first step in making sure you can take steps to make progress in your life to gain the skills that are undeniable and uniquely suited for you and you only. It’s not that sophisticated YET but it will be. I just put together the architecture and the design. Now that it’s done I can layer in sophisticated system prompt for Sky. My next step is to put together the solid architecture for Sky’s memories. I’m using a relational graph database which is designed and built very uniquely and similarly to how a human being thinks. I’m using Neo4j graph database for this. In the future I will be creating a planning feature for you to take it another step further and put your insights into concrete and actionable steps and behaviors to move forward to creating the life and skills that are uniquely YOU. The whole point of AlignCore is so that your abstract purpose turns into relevant skills using first principles thinking so you can pivot at any time especially during the age of AI where things are going to be taken away from you. Maybe artistry would be gone but the meta skills you gain will be transferable because you know how to use it elsewhere. Adaptability and anti-entropy is your super power with AlignCore.
