So…. This week I did speed dating for the first time. I found a dress I felt great in, got a pretty hair style and did my own make-up. I felt confident walking into the event. Had different conversations with kind, respectful men. While they were short introductions, the interactions felt better than dating apps. In the end, I didn’t match with anyone. I felt disappointed for a bit but it didn’t devastate me like it normally would have. I valued the process of feeling good and having quality conversations, rather than the outcome. I attribute my response to doing a lot of inner work that has helped heal/ grieve deep wounds. This is a huge step for me because normally I would dwell for days on what I did wrong and tell myself no one wants me. This shift also comes from making myself happy and not waiting for a man to save me or do the work for me.

Thank you for affirming/ confirming that there is a shift for me. I think going in confidently and understanding that non- matches just weren’t the right fit, even if I enjoyed the conversation.

@Frederik Schaaf It‘s interesting when you claim your space and tell how you feel. I feel like it’s my truth or my want but some people don’t want to back down- they trivialize what you feel, say you misunderstood or are overreacting. Usually those types of responses tell me it’s best to let them go for my own well-being.

The book is refreshing. I am reading it slowly and taking time to respond to the prompts in my journal since it’s a lot to process. I mean maybe it’s not new to feel safe in yourself so you can connect better to those around you, but I like how she frames it. She makes it feel possible that healthy romantic relationships are within reach. She is very direct and encouraging. Fixed mindsets are shit. Our minds, hearts and souls need to grow even when painful or uncomfortable. Such is life.
