Revisiting life through Memoir:
Hi everyone, I’m Anish Koirala, a filmmaker and writer from Nepal. I’m writing my memoir, exploring my journey through cinema, passion, and self-discovery — from Bollywood to independent films in Nepal and a small American indie project. As a non-celebrity, I sometimes wonder if people will be interested in a story about life behind the scenes, and if they will relate to the experiences of someone chasing a dream without fame. I joined this group to learn from fellow writers and share experiences. I’d love to hear how others approach writing personal journeys and stay motivated while remaining authentic.

@Rob Cole Thank you so much for this thoughtful response. You captured the heart of what I’m trying to explore in my memoir— dream and doubt, resilience, and what a dream gives and takes away. A boy from Nepal runs away to Bollywood to chase cinema, survives exploitation across continents, and discovers that passion shapes identity more deeply than success.
🏆 Julie for the Jack D. Rittenhouse Award
Hey, y'all, join me in my nomination of @Julie Broad for the IBPA Jack D. Rittenhouse Award. 👉 https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HJ99NS7 The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) is now accepting nominations for The Rittenhouse Award, an annual honor historically given by PubWest in memory of Jack D. Rittenhouse, the West’s legendary bookman. Nominations will be open from December 1st through January 31st. The award committee will review the candidates in February and select a proposed winner to be shared with and approved by IBPA’s Board of Directors. I submitted my nomination the other day, and today is YOUR chance to submit yours. The is only open to fellow IBPA members, so if you're not already a member of the IBPA... you may want to consider joining. Share how you feel Julie has "made a significant and lifelong contribution to a pioneering and independent spirit of books and book publishing." I can think of a dozen ways, but that's what I put in my nomination. Yours should be in your own words, not mine. If you have any questions about the form, the IBPA, or the nomination, comment here or DM me. It's a short form, will only take you a minute or two to complete, and will help honor Julie's lifetime commitment to us fellow authors. 👉 https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HJ99NS7

Seeking Feedback on Back Cover Blurb
Dear friends, If you have a minute, I would love your feedback on this back cover blurb for my upcoming personal growth book. Thank you so much in advance. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. CLARIFY YOUR VISION. LIVE WITH PURPOSE. Stuck in Yesterday is for anyone who feels trapped by past mistakes, trauma, or a life that no longer fits. Drawing from yoga philosophy, Indigenous wellness practices, modern coaching, and the author’s doctoral research, this book offers practical tools to realign with your inner compass and move from personal clarity to meaningful belonging. At the heart of the book is the Higher Purpose Codex—a six-part process to: • name your higher purpose • clarify core values • plant your vision seed • define principles of success • engage in visionary practices • translate insight into action. Together, these codes form a living personal manifesto that evolves as you do. More than a self-help book, Stuck in Yesterday takes a spiritual and embodied approach, guiding readers through visionary exercises that support real transformation—helping you trust your inner guidance and live your purpose with integrity.

Dear Gustavo, I like the idea of the back cover book blurb, but I feel like it's too generic and lengthy. Make it concise and more specific to connect as a human - this is just a suggestion.
Weekly Discussion: What’s one challenge you’re facing right now in your author journey?
It could be big or small: - Something you’re stuck on - A decision you’re avoiding - A task that feels heavier than it should - Or just a question you keep circling Share it in the comments. You don’t need a perfect explanation—just be real. Chances are, someone else here is dealing with the same thing, and this is a safe place to talk it through, plus some of our admins might be able to help you get through that pesky problem you're having. 🤓

I’m revisiting my life by writing a memoir about my passion for Bollywood cinema, struggles, and self-discovery. Sometimes I feel lost as a non-celebrity and wonder if people would be interested in my journey, the challenges I’ve faced, and the exploitation I experienced.
