The Sweathogs are back!
@Andrew Greenlee and I decided to go retro for our name. I focused on cleaning up my daylilly plants and weeding the front flowerbed. The daylillies have been blooming like crazy since I worked a bunch of compost into the soil in the spring. They bloom throughout the summer and the leaves die off as new ones grow. Normally it isn’t a huge task to pull the dead leaves and snip the dead stems, but they are huge this year. The camera on my phone decided to stop working today, so the pictures are fewer than they could be. It’s hard to see, but there’s a brown frog in the second picture circled in green!

busy day at work but made time to water the garden. It was a hot one here in OH today so when I got home the veggies needed it. While I was watering my peppers and cucumbers I was watching some bumble bees getting sweet nectar from my comfrey plant, which I need to chop and drop since it is really getting overgrown. Just hate to do that since it has been drawing pollinators. And in my backyard I decided to disturb some of my wood chip mulch to see some fungal activity, which I've read is a good sign for the breakdown process.

@Betsy Moll yeah, I saw a tiny frog last year myself. It's sitting on the leaf.

I do compost but now since I am growing comfrey, I'm trying the chop and drop. They say comfrey is high nitrogen, so I've been chopping the leaves and putting them around my veggies under my wood chip top dressing, so we'll see how it works. Some permaculturist I follow swear by it. Only time will tell.
Goldenrod.....
good or evil? I've heard good and bad about it. I have some popping up on the backside of my garden. It's supposedly good to attract pollinators but can be invasive.

@Dennis Wichter definitely not looking for a manicured lawn/garden. trying to get as much use out of it using companion planting and trying to help out the pollinators. The area it is growing in is predominately covered with a wood chip ground cover in the back of my property close to the largest of my laid out gardens. So not being very good at science and chemistry, thinking that environment is ideal for golden rod? Have some ground ivy encroaching from a neighbors yard in along the fence line as well

Introducing myself
Hello, it's nice to have stumbled across Skool.com and become a part of this community. I am interested in learning more about Gardening and how I can grow more of my own food. I've always been able to grow just about every and anythong. I was told I had a green thumb.
