So I got a package yesterday from my Mom, who many of you know my brother and I moved into an assisted living facility last month. One of the things we did to help with her memory care was we also moved boxes of our childhood things for her to go through so she could relive memories and share the stories with other residents and her medical companion. So this package arrives yesterday with three watches in it. Knowing I'm neck deep in my addic-hobby, she thought I'd "like them back" 🤧 She then shared stories with each watch. (Little dust in my eye, sorry.) Today's watch started right up with a bit of manual winding. 50 m water resistance, mineral glass cover, stretch wrist band, date window. According to Mom, I purchased this piece after graduating high school and getting my first suit for on campus college interviews with tennis coaches. You may remember Lazarus, my Dad's Timex with the stretch band. Guess, I was thinking, "be like Dad". It must have worked for 1st impressions- I got the scholarship at Valparaiso University (although only played two years). Dad wasn't pleased. Incredible the watch still works 40 years later.

I was walking around an outlet center yesterday and went into a few jewelry stores to see what kinds of watches I would see. Lots of Citizen,Tissot, Casio and Bulova. As I was looking an open heart caught my attention. I want an open heart but wait it also has a clear caseback and automatic movement…. Jubilee bracelet hmmmmmm… But it’s a tank style I’ve never even considered a tank but it looked pretty cool and is growing on me by the hour as I think about it. Guys, what do you think about Tank style? Old fashioned or classic?

WOTD… but for someone else… Oyster, 41 mm, Oystersteel and Everose gold I was traveling today and struck up a conversation with the guy next to me on the plane after I glanced at his phone and noticed he was watching YouTube videos about watches. We spent the flight talking time pieces. I was a bit awe-struck with watch-envy and a bit embarrassed with my own time piece after what I saw was on his wrist. When I travel I very often wear my budget Seiko Japanese import — it’s my go-to daily wear for me if I’m not setting an intention to wear something else from my collection. When I do travel with a luxury timepiece it is always packed in my personal item in a watch case (1) I don’t want to flash it, (2) I don’t want to booger it up with surface scratches as I’m rushing from here to there… Yet, here this guy was, casually sporting his chocolate and diamond datejust. He was nice enough to let me handle it; I was nice enough to return it 😁 ..and I wiped away the drool before handing it back to him. It was a real looker, so I wanted to share with the community.
