Any body else scared? Or it’s just me?
I was laid off a few weeks ago 🥺 It still feels strange to even write those words, especially after 11 years of non-stop work. For years, my days were defined by movement — site walks, reports, inspections, constant decisions. Now everything has gone quiet... No deadlines. No calls. Just space — the kind that makes you face yourself.😰 It’s uncomfortable. Some mornings, it feels like standing at the edge of a fog — knowing there’s something ahead, but not seeing where to step next. Part of me is afraid of losing momentum. The other part wonders if this silence is actually a gift — maybe the first real moment I’ve had to choose my direction instead of just follow one. If you’ve ever been forced to start over… 1) how did you find your footing again? 2) Did you chase stability, or listen to the pull of what felt right — even if it scared you? Please share if you are (or have been) in this situation before, as I need to know how you dealt with it.🙏❤️

@Mahyad Aghigh I really felt this, Mahyad. It’s completely okay to feel uncertain after such a big shift, especially after so many years of nonstop work. Sometimes life forces us to pause so we can realign with what truly matters. You’ve built strong habits, skills, and resilience. It’s just waiting for the right new direction. You’ve got this
Tell me about yourself” — one of the most common (and tricky) interview questions.
Many of us have been there: the recruiter asks it right at the start, and suddenly we’re wondering… Should I repeat what’s already on my resume? Or should I focus on my achievements and make it more personal? Here’s the thing, this question isn’t really about your entire background. It’s about how you connect your story to the role you’re applying for. The right approach is to give a concise, confident summary that blends your career highlights, core skills, and motivation for the position. Don’t just recite your resume, it’s not a checklist. Do highlight your impact, unique strengths, and what drives you professionally. I’m curious about how do you usually answer this question when recruiters ask “Tell me about yourself”? Do you focus more on your experiences, your achievements, or your personality?

Yoohoo, I Got a +120K Job Interview, BUT...
Yoohooo, Today, I received an interview invitation from a major high-tech company that designs and sells AI hardware and software worldwide. 😎 for a logistics role, obviously.. The logistics role looks incredible, global operations, advanced systems, and a salary range between 120K and 160K CAD. 🥸 I was excited.. 😒But then came a line in the job notice that changed the feeling completely: “This offer of employment is contingent upon the applicant being eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology...” (and this permission only granted to PR holders or Citizens 🤒) Because the company works with U.S. export-controlled systems (EAR regulations), the position requires clearance to access certain technologies. Even though the job is in Canada, these restrictions still apply globally. 😭😭 So this time, it is not about experience or skill, it is about where I was born!! I did not choose to be born in Iran, but I choose to live good, professional, and different. I choose to keep learning, connecting, and building a future that proves knowledge and discipline are stronger than borders. And yes, I will still go to the interview. I will learn, build connections, and be ready for what comes next. The next position in this company is at a salary level of over 300K CAD, and that is where I want to be prepared to reach. So yeah, sad but true...

Motivation and hope
I’m so happy that I joined this community, because ever since I joined two weeks ago, even though I haven’t been able to fully complete my tasks every day, I’ve gotten so motivated and filled with hope from what I’ve learned from Alex. I wake up every day now with joy and hope, and I try harder. Even in the short moments during the day, those little 5 to 10-minute breaks I get between work and tough life conditions, I can do more and take better steps for myself.
