Yoohooo, Today, I received an interview invitation from a major high-tech company that designs and sells AI hardware and software worldwide. 😎 for a logistics role, obviously..
The logistics role looks incredible, global operations, advanced systems, and a salary range between 120K and 160K CAD. 🥸
I was excited..
😒But then came a line in the job notice that changed the feeling completely:
“This offer of employment is contingent upon the applicant being eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology...” (and this permission only granted to PR holders or Citizens 🤒)
Because the company works with U.S. export-controlled systems (EAR regulations), the position requires clearance to access certain technologies. Even though the job is in Canada, these restrictions still apply globally. 😭😭
So this time, it is not about experience or skill, it is about where I was born!!
I did not choose to be born in Iran, but I choose to live good, professional, and different.
I choose to keep learning, connecting, and building a future that proves knowledge and discipline are stronger than borders.
And yes, I will still go to the interview. I will learn, build connections, and be ready for what comes next. The next position in this company is at a salary level of over 300K CAD, and that is where I want to be prepared to reach.
So yeah, sad but true...
