My oldest Daughter came over and we put up the Acoustic Foam on the ceiling in my booth! It took way longer that we had planned because the command strips didn't stick to the foam so I had to be creative and use some Elmer's Multi-Purpose spray Adhesive. I'm so happy it's finally done!

    Teamwork makes the dreamwork

So you want to get into voiceover work? If you are an aspiring actor or have an eye for a career that combines artistry and audio engineering, then you should consider taking the steps to a successful career in voiceover. The first step to successful voiceover work is to promise yourself that you will dedicate time and effort into honing your craft. This means that you need to take the time to practice and perfect your voice. Going to an open mic event or taking an acting class where you can practice your delivery and use the feedback to improve is the best way to get started. Secondly, it's important to get involved in the local voiceover community. Attend workshops and network with professionals in the industry. Start connecting with professionals and they can help you find work opportunities and offer insight into what it takes to successfully break in to the industry. Next, begin demo production process. Before you can start marketing your skills, you need to have your demo voiceover script and recording ready. You can do this yourself by investing in a quality microphone and recording equipment. You can also look for voiceover coaches and demo producers who can help you record your demo. Once your demo is complete, you need to start marketing yourself as a voiceover artist. Join professional organizations, post your demo online, and find clients who need voiceover work. You should also build a website that showcases your work and any testimonials from happy clients. Finally, you need to stay organized when it comes to your voiceover work. Set up a system to track your communications, network with agents, and practice vocal exercises to stay sharp. By following these steps, you can go from aspiring voiceover artist to successful voiceover star. So what are you waiting for? Get started on your voiceover journey today!

If you have a question put it out There someone will share the help

I have been wondering if it is possible to earn a good living without joining a site. My current plan (in another posting entitled "My Plans") is essentially to do the Voice over for my own products. After that I am considering reaching out to the members of professional bodies/groups that I am a member of. Any thoughts regarding this?

The short answer in my opinion is no you don't. HHowever There is a great deal of learning that you gain from these sites ( free or paid) that you will find extremely valuable. And crucial. To your personal success

I am away from home for the holidays, and will be for another 10 days. The grind doesn't stop and the biggest contributor to not moving forward most times is our own selves..I refuse to stop !!! And neither should you This is how I'm recording on vacation. Just submitted 7 auditions and it sounds GOOD.

I'm excited and yet saddened. This particular forum will be ending very soon. Call it the end of the beginning if you will. Quite a few things were shared between all of us. The main goal of course is conquering the things that hold us back and embracing the future with nervous excitement and expectation for what is to come. I appreciate having ya'll around and listening to the good, bad, ugly...but never quitting. It's all inspirational. I can't wait to see the progress we make together and individually. Thanks Earl, Mike, and ALL! GADQ

Today was the last AmA with Earl. Two things. One you will never really know how much you effect a person. Even when you tell them, Earl in the short time I've been with him and the group. I have done more in the short time I've been with him. There aren't enough words in the English language to express the thanks for helping me move forward with my career....Business as a voice over artiest. And two he as said somethings that will be like a hard kick in your stomach. But sometimes you need that person in your life who can tell you what you need to hear so you can move on to do what you really want to do. This was the last one with him, because like the saying goes, he's work was done and it's time to move on. and we will follow him as we work om our own journeys. And he'll be right there look over our shoulders. And whispering a fine point or two. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE. AND AS ALWAYS YOU KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY OF US WE HAVE YOUR BACK .😊

Hello everyone. If you have never been to a live AMA that I do every Saturday at 1pm EST you don't want to miss what is coming in these last two sessions we have before the close of this community on May 22nd. I mentioned this in our last AMA session that this group would be going away as I am building and pursuing my dreams and goals. Of course the website www.stepstovoiceoversuccess.com will continue to be there for all of you training needs with its courses and 1-on-1 sessions with me. I am excited to see people in this group step up and become leaders. This is one of my greatest joys! Many of you know about my brand new show launching on May 25th called The Earl Hall Show. I am excited about interviewing some of you even on that show. There are a lot of great things happening and I am excited about this next chapter for me and Earl Hall Studio LLC. Let us all continue to #grindanddontquit - Earl

Where I live down here in deep south Texas. You still have power outages and wifi outages. Friday was one of them. Power way out and wifi was out as well. So the question is what do you do if it hits you on the very day you have a project due? The power outage is an easy fix, buy an large external battery that last say for 4 hours. Now the wifi. That's a toughy. I have that happen to me when Houston got hit by a Hurricane, I went to the nearest hospital or I could have gone to a fire house or police station, and was going to use their electricity. all three have back up generations. But here all three are too far for me to go to. And I don't drive anymore by chose. And I think wifi towers have their own back up power. ( as long and the don't get knocked down.) Any ideas?

I will add to the point Greg was making , connect your computer to your phone ( tethering is the term) ost phones allow you to use them as a wifi hot spot. Just remember that data will be transferred via cellular so it won't move as fast.. this is in part why I strongly attempt to get projects done and remitted as quickly as possible. You will run into issues and late projects regardless of the client relationships are not always welcomed late

Hey Lovely People! I would love to get some feedback on this audition I've recorded for acx. Please let me know your thoughts on the read itself and the sound quality. Thanks in advance for your help and thanks for all the wonderful info I've been able to learn from this group! R

That right there was awesome brother.. man I enjoyed that!.. Keep that great work going

I gave old girl an up grade. Bought a pack of sound proofing tiles And super glued them inside the milk crate. There's far less room for the sound to move around. But I like the result. Yea I could have bought one of Amazons portable sound boxes. But where's the fun in that. I'm also posting two clips of the test I did. Test is unprocessed and test2 is after processing With Amplifier, And ns1 wave for the basic sound. Now I get to play with reverb, echo and all the other effects.😊 Dear Santa, I've been an ok boy this year 2024 please can I have one of the grown up sound booths. Where there's a will :grind and don't you dear quit. 😉

Can anyone who has done a book on acx tell me what to do after I've finished the book? I have recorded it all, but I think the author has to approve the 15 minute checkpoint before I can submit the chapters. Does that sound like it is correct? The author sent me a message that he approved it, but I still have a message in my folder saying I'm waiting for approval of the 15 minute checkpoint.

I am glad to hear that ... always here to help

Earl has often shared with us about how less is often MORE when we process our audio. I have started to learn that lately. Attached are two files: - The first file is my final Demo audio file for Public Service Announcements - re-edited today in 2023. - - The second audio file is the FIRST file I originally did in 2018 - that first job had way too much processing on it - In that first file, I took my original audio and cut it by -3db from 1200hz to the end in the audio and a bunch of other equipment stuff (thinking I was making it sound better lol). That destroyed my natural voice and added in lots of echo and cut the meat out of my voice. - - I am posting both as an example of Earl's sharing that we should not overprocess our audio! - - Hope you found it helpful! Blessings to all!

As a woman, your Sibilant range usually kicks up around 8k and up..did you find your sibilance in that region?

I absolutely love the Snap Studio Earl shared with us in the past AMA sessions. Unfortunately, I can't put up a studio no matter what its size is where I live, but I love exploring the options for when I move to a place where I can! (I am caretaker for my beloved 82 year old Mother that has recovered from cancer / chemo/ radiation over the last year and half and live in a home with 3 other people lol. Absolutely love them all but I am looking forward to getting back to living alone in my own space! lol) In the meantime, for those that are looking for cost-efficient options, I am sharing a few links/videos that I hope you find helpful... Except for the first youtube link, all the links below are those that I emailed myself looking for options that might work in my current living environment, which will only allow for a studio arrangement on a desktop that I can put up and take down off the desktop after each and every recording session. Some of these options might require putting up some acoustic panels inside the desktop arrangement.... And if that's the case, maybe just using cushions and a blanket might work just as well! If I could put up a studio in my home, I would hands down go with the snap studio and be done with it! lol (Here is Earl's Amazon Affiliate link for the Snap Studio: https://amzn.to/3FJHlmS) **************************** VO Booth under $100 (Home Depot will cut the PV pipes to my preferred size): https://youtu.be/jir87bwoQoQ Desktop Booth with Head Hood - $425 (snap studio is $499 but only 3x3, so I can't fit over the desk) VOMO -Portable – Voice Over MObile Audio Recording Booth. – VocalBoothTo... With those limitations, then you should really look at one of the kaorica eyeball imitations. Personally think that and some really good noise reduction software should do the trick

So I finally had a few free moments ( man life comes hard and fast sometimes).. But while enjoying a New York City spring day ( for the 23 minutes it lasts) I saw this post by Mr Bill.. So here is my humble contribution,,

@Novella Childress many many people don't have one. However preventative maintenance is SUPER IMPORTANT. It helps you learn your system better. Learn what changes or improvements you may or may not need. And my honest top reason is not just to prevent problems, but allows you to troubleshoot issues as they happen. Losing a client or worse can be detrimental to your business

Just think there's someone who wishes they could get up on Monday morning and Just walk into the kitchen have their coffee and then go to work. In their PJ'S. Guess what? Voice over artiest can.😋
