Small and portable recording environment.
Since the recording environment is important I have been looking into building my own “Hobo Fort”. However, space is a bit of an issue for me. So I have been looking into building a small “Hobo Fort”. I thought I would share my thoughts with you. My current idea is as follows: 1. Get a “BXI Portable Sound Recording Vocal Booth Box” (https://www.amazon.co.uk/BXI-Portable-Sound-Recording-Vocal/dp/B09NZY9SRC) 2. Using some blankets to cover the back (and my head) when I am recording. Something like Sure-Max 8 Moving & Packing Blankets - Ultra Thick Pro - 80" x 72" (65 lb/dz weight) - Professional Quilted Shipping Furniture Pads Black : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CJHH7J8 Ultimately the result will look like the picture in Step 8 on this site https://rachelcorbett.com.au/blog/diy-voice-over-booth/. What do you think of this idea? Do you think it would be suitable for voice over? I would appreciate all advice offered regarding this.

Fiverr Issue
I have a small business of my own where I do a lot of videography for weddings and other events. I have bought everything from voiceover work to logos on Fiverr. Those that use Fiverr when someone messages you about a job and you make them a custom offer. Would you then message then 2 minutes later with another offer for needing more money. I am trying to figure out if this is normal on Fiverr. This makes me feel that it’s almost scam like. I offer you let’s say 20 bucks to get you in the door and then do the bait and switch to get more out of you. Any thoughts on this?

@Earl Hall I agree, and after speaking with several of my friends that do work on Fiverr, they were telling me that it is common for that to happen.

@Ralph Toles Whenever I do business on Fiverr I always message the seller. I explain my expectations and even detail out what I want. I ask for a custom order because I want to make sure that they are getting paid what they are worth for their time. If I ever give a person a price for my services and the work is to much, I will never ask for more money. This makes me reevaluate my pricing for my time. I learn from my failures.
Resource
Hi all! I'm not sure who might benefit from this but I wanted to post it. I know a few people in our community told me they used an acting coach. Here is a website I found that has online sessions. We're now in a digital world so I guess it's par for the course. https://takelessons.com/search?service=Acting&focus=group&location_type%5B%5D=location_online&timeZoneId=America%2FChicago

I did use them for college credit. Indiana Tech gave me an option either use them or pay for another class that I didn't need so I took the lesser cost which was around 200 bucks. The lady that I trained with was really good and knowledgeable. This is where I got my introduction to VO. The lady's name was Sara M and she was excellent. Now, I, on the other hand, was just using it for college and did not care at the time I still have the recordings and you can tell that I did not care but she did because it was a passion of her's.

I have been using REAPER and I also have Studio One Artist which I am currently trying to use and learn. I like the gui interface of Studio one where you can drag and drop.

@Earl Hall I did make the decision last night to switch back to adobe audition because there are more tutorials and more people use that than the other.

@Vernessa McVay When I hear people that let fear stop them I always go back to Star Wars and Master Yoda. There is a quotes that come to mind. "Named must be your fear before banish it you can", basically when we call out our fears directly they become less of a force and a challenge we can take on. You Got This.
Recording videos
@Earl Hall What software do you use to record your videos? Can it record what is on the screen along with the computers internal sounds?⁣

OBS is a free software that I know people use to record with as well. Don't know how well it does, but it is free.
Audio Peer Review
Here I am again, If anyone has time to review these on my voice and even on my editing skills, please be brutal and honest. My feelings will not be hurt, and its the only way to learn.

🚀EARL HALL STUDIO HAS MOVED🚀
Well it happened LOL! My wife and I decided to move my studio to the back of our bedroom (its a pretty huge bedroom) and she is starting her own business (MORE TO COME ON THAT) and she is taking my old spot where I was so comfortable livestreaming. I do love my new location. What do you think?

Headset
#Your Gear The question that I have about headsets are gaming headsets good to use? Here is a link to a set that I have. Would these be just as good to use for my booth as well. https://hyperx.com/products/hyperx-cloud-stinger?variant=41077973254301&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=Cj0KCQiAqOucBhDrARIsAPCQL1aymN9O-jj5LykEMiMLzs4Eq5rmbLUjF5TOFC5yCYbhE4_K_MDB9iwaAgQ9EALw_wcB

Where to start.
I have a question. For us newbies who have never done any type of voice over work. What might you suggest as a good starting market, to cut your teeth on so to speak?

I have used that site and it is a good site to get your feet wet. Also reaching out to youtubers that don't have many subscribers and offering your services for free helps out as well.
