Some emotional support
My dearest WPA friends, I am in need of some moral support as I prepare to go to this Anusara Yoga Conference in San Francisco next week. I have been offered 2 non-prime-time teaching slots at 7:00am. I live in NYC; that means I have to get up at 4:00am Eastern Standard Time to teach a class that is not being livestreamed or featured. They are meditation classes. I have been invited to teach one asana class with 3 other teachers at the end of the conference. This sounds so petty to me, but my ego is taking a bit of a beating here. My background is I was one of the teachers that helped to save Anusara after our teacher, John Friend, left. This is the first conference since 2012 that I have been given non-prime time slots. It is a huge amount of time off and sacrifice for so little exposure. I agreed to these terms, but part of me wishes I had just said no and shown up as a student. Some of the "star teachers" have been given 2 or 3 prime-time classes. How can I frame this as a win and not a demotion in my position in the community? These star teachers will bring people in. I have no following on the West Coast. It makes sense, but I want to go with a full heart and not this feeling of lack. Thanks for any suggestions on how to reframe this. @Cate Stillman @Elizabeth Stauder @Carman Murray @Valerie Hwang Beck @Nina Saacks @Paula Pister

Hi @Jacalyn Prete While reframing the self worth piece is great, it’s also okay to have needs. If the hour is too early for you, you can say so. It’s also fine to approach them with curiosity about the change. The information given in response could be useful as to whether this is right people set for you, or at the very least help you direct your charged energy into action via asking for clarification. Whatever you decide to do, I’m rooting for your deepening awareness of your sense of worth regardless of whether it’s validated on the outside. 💪🏼 💛
No crops yet... but how's your root system?
Sometimes I feel a bit defeated and often I feel highly frustrated because my business is not where I want it yet. There have been huge gains in my growth and foundation and belief system, and it goes back to gap or gain perspective. That frustration keeps me moving, but reminders like this also help move out of the feelings of defeat that sometimes arise. And then I realize.... I HAVE had LOTS of gains. I just didn't realize how much was required of me to do this when I started out (still would do it anyway). https://youtube.com/shorts/9KPJyj24RME?si=qkGGNzcvplSQkZn3

Meeting Recap : 03-17-2026 | Session by @Cate Stillman Your free talk isn't meant to teach — it's meant to help people feel the problem they're living in and see you as the bridge to the other side. Slow down, ask powerful questions, and let them emotionally connect before you ever go into teach mode. The same goes for sales: stop building assets and start having more conversations. You can close a client with three slides and a good transcript. Key Takeaways: - Lead with emotion and connection — teaching comes after they feel seen. - Your success story should be 80% "before," because that's where your prospect is living. - Record your sales calls, drop the transcript into Claude with your club guide, and generate a personalized one-year plan for your prospect. - Imposter syndrome is just making it about you — shift focus to the people you're here to serve. - Check your numbers, find what's already working, and double down on that — no assumptions. Next Steps: - Run your next free talk using: who it's for → emotion → problem → story → one takeaway → pitch the call. - Book 3 sales conversations before building any new marketing content. - Use Claude to build a one-year prospect plan from your next sales call transcript. - Identify your highest-converting entry point and create more content around that topic only. P.S. Find your marshmallow-puff spoke this week and make it a twig. Watch recording: Vimeo Link

@Nina Pullella I would love to check out the documentary about your friend who died of cancer. Where can I find it? Also, I didn’t know that about your story and it makes me appreciate you even more. 🫶 💖
AI voice mode for sales practice
Has anyone practiced a sales call with their AI? I just tried using ChatGPT on voice mode and gave it a prompt/avatar and the type of objections it would be likely to give. I drive a lot so I realized I could practice sales while driving- you guys may be doing this already but just wanted to offer the idea!!! If I pair this with our sales practice calls I think I’ll improve exponentially over the next month!! @Valerie Hwang Beck @Nina Pullella @Jacalyn Prete @Lynn Beck @Yael Bernstein @Carman Murray @Britt Vanderhoof @Elizabeth Stauder @Tarna Fuller @Paula Pister

When life has you pause...
Good morning Life has so many ups and downs, and I’m getting better at allowing myself to pause, to process, and to heal — rather than pushing through. My business is moving slowly right now. And honestly, that feels okay. I’m giving myself time to build stronger rhythms around health, rest, and being human. Yesterday I visited a friend I used to teach with. She’s in hospice at the age of 50 after a long battle with cancer. When I saw her on Thursday, she was doing relatively well. Yesterday, there was a significant drop. It’s one of those moments that stops you in your tracks. I’m giving myself permission to feel, to grieve, and to get clearer on my own life and the direction I want to take — instead of forcing momentum. Over the past 10 years in this community, I’ve gradually redirected my life, and in many ways, I’m living my dream. That said, there have been plenty of roadblocks, speed bumps, and reroutes along the way. At the time, many of them felt like a pain in the butt — and I’ll be honest, I resisted more than a few. Looking back, I can see they were gentle… and sometimes not-so-gentle nudges guiding me where I was meant to go. I’m deeply grateful for them now. In the moment? Not always so much. I’m learning to trust — really trust — the unfolding. To say no to something good, so I have the space and capacity when something great arrives. To believe the universe is shaping me into the unique human I’m here to be, and opening doors I couldn’t have imagined if I were still pushing so hard. I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing humans in this community — for the friendships we’ve built and the way we walk alongside one another. I’m looking forward to meeting more of you in Mexico. Sending so much love to each of you as we move through this wild, tender, beautiful thing called life — inspiring, encouraging, supporting, and building together. And a gentle reminder… reach out to the people you love. Even if it’s been a while.
