Considering a switch to Skool from Patreon and would love your input!
Hi everyone, First post here! Like the title says, I'm considering a switch to Skool from Patreon (already started my trial to play around), and would love input. Especially if anyone has been through a similar case and found success. I'm a spiritual content creator, artist, & meditation teacher. I'm passionate about supporting people in sharing their authentic expression online. I currently host a small, paid Patreon community where the main benefits are: ā€“ Weekly ad-free version of my public podcast ā€“ Weekly meditation & chats via Zoom ā€“ Private Whatsapp group Benefits I intend to add: ā€“ Resources & courses (e.g. my book list with commentary on each book, meditation resource hub, how to attract an aligned audience with a completely authentic podcast, etc, basically just want to share & teach what I know) ā€“ Weekly creator support group for teachers, creators, & artists who want to show up consistently with boldness & vulnerability and could use community & accountability ā€“ Q&A sessions My idea is to start with a low price ($10/mo) and slowly raise it as I build out value. Biggest frustration when it comes to Patreon: ā€“Ā No calendar. It's really annoying to share the event schedule with people Biggest fears when it comes to switching: ā€“ Fear that members will jump ship when I switch, especially those who are currently on a $3/mo tier, and I'll lose the essence of the community I already have šŸ˜… I'm curious if anyone with more experience than me can share why I might be a good use case for Skool. And if I'm being totally honest, I think I might just be looking for someone to give me permission to trust my gut.

@George Poulos Hey George, send me a DM with any questions you have about moving from Patreon to Skool as I did this last year and it was the best decision I made for my art business. Also check out this blog post I wrote where I compare Skool to Patreon: https://samuelearp.com/blog/skool-review/

Corporate Job ā†’ Full-Time Artist On Skool
@Samuel Earp quit his corporate job to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an artist. He now makes a full-time wage teaching others to paint on Skool! In this episode, we talk about: - How lifting weights makes him a better painter - Becoming ā€œcomfortable with being uncomfortableā€ - How Skool changed his life - Putting a price on something as subjective as ā€œartā€ - How he became a full-time artist without ever going to Art School - The importance of getting your ā€œbrush mileage inā€ - And advice heā€™d give to anyone starting out on Skool Check it out! With the unlock feature at level 2 can you still send auto DMs for new members when they first join? Or is it that the need to reach level 2 before they can message anyone else in your group?
Skool V Patreon (for Vloggers)
Iā€™m here because I was ready to launch a Patreon account for my YouTube channel (sailing vlog), but decided to give this a try. Still figuring out which is the better option during my 14-day trialā€¦ Iā€™ve been looking for similar groups here, but they seem to be nonexistent. Seems like most YouTube vloggers stick with Patreon. Looking for insights to see which is the better option for me. Thanks in advance! šŸ™

Hey @Bennie Foster , as @Sam Ovens said I was on Patreon for years. I always thought Patreon was clunky and there was nowhere near as much engagement as their is in my Skool communities. I am an artist and I teach my painting techniques online. I joined Patreon in 2020 and charged $5 monthly. I made in depth painting tutorials every month. Patreon was fine for where I was at in 2020, but as time went on I really started to notice the limitations of Patreon. One of the problems was that my patrons couldnā€™t find my older videos as they had to keep scrolling down the feed. I couldnā€™t increase my prices either without setting up a whole new tier. The engagement also wasnā€™t there. The other main issue was the fees that Patreon takes. I have over 300 subscribers and I seemed to be paying around $400 in fees to Patreon every month, plus the more subscribers you have the more you pay in fees to Patreon. With Skool it is $99 every month regardless of the size of your audience. I am so thankful I discovered Skool last year. I created an art school here and just recently a free group call Painters Hub. I get so much more engagement in both groups than I ever did on Patreon. My courses / painting tutorial videos are all organised in the Classroom. I do weekly Zoom calls and I have made it fun with the gamification feature. I LOVE Skool and so do my subscribers. I am so excited for the future of my art groups šŸ˜€
