📅 Daily Check-in - July 3, 2026 💭 Reflection: "We are finally getting some sun; it still rains a little every day, but nothing to stop you from being outside. Getting some fresh air and working on the neighbour's deck is where most of my energy is at right now. I want to finish this asap so they can enjoy it for the summer. There are two sections to this deck. Replacing/fixing the old deck and building a new section. Weather permitting, hoping to finish the old section by the end of this weekend. I only do about 2-3 hours at a time when it's nice out... hey, I'm 61... gotta protect these old bones of mine. 📅 Daily Check-in - July 3, 2026 💭 Reflection: "It's been a bit crazy at home. My eldest is heading off to the U15 Christchurch International Competition for football and he's still not packed. We have to get him thermals and PJs that are warm and actually fit him. At the tender age of 14, he's now 5'9''. Actually he's probably taller than that by now. I've only got tomorrow to do it as Sunday we're back down in Auckland for a football game and he flies out on Monday morning from Auckland. No pressure! My youngest still hasn't gone to school. While his brother is away, we 'll spend some time in the first week of the holidays doing some fun maths type things and reading books - might take him up to the library, to try and bring him up to speed. Well - I can only try! Turning it around
Tonight was a bit rough. After a week off due to my injury, I went back to 3 days of 2-3 hour rehearsals in a row. I was determined to go in on this 3rd day and have smiles. I even put my hair up in a funky weird messy bun kind of thing lol. I put my negative thoughts and fears into a box (imaginary), and set it down in the hallway outside of the studio room. It started off great! About 1.5 hours in, pain was setting in and being distracting. By hour 3, I was a mess, and started tearing myself down. And, yes, tears came at the end. But, I forgot, that I did both dances full out several times. It was the first time that I fully did the floorwork parts in 2 weeks since my injury. I was so stuck in my frustration and anger with myself for struggling through the last hour, when I actually pushed myself through the first 2 hours and did it pretty well! Why is it so hard to be less hard on ourselves? The bad parts glow bright and diminish the good parts. Just got to keep reminding myself of the good parts. I hope that all of you here remember to think of the good parts. ❤️
