Award Winning Director Darren Aronofsky uses AI for his next TV Series
Darren Aronofsky just did exactly what we talk about in AI Animation Masterclass: he stepped into the role of AI Director (instead of an AI Animator).
He didn’t sit there as a button-clicker; he brought a clear vision, story, and point of view, then used AI as his camera crew, art department, and VFX team.
It’s not perfect, but (in my opinion) it is still really good, and he is telling a story → that’s what matters.
Here’s the crazy part: a historically themed series like his, shot “traditionally,” would mean real sets or locations, costumes, extras, trucks, insurance, full crews, months of pre‑production, production, and post.
That’s easily in the millions and takes a huge chunk of a year.
With AI, a tight creative team and a strong director’s brain can get something in that lane for thousands instead of millions, and days or weeks instead of months.
This is the exact mindset I push in the training:
You are not an “AI animator” with no vision, you are an AI Director.
You decide the tone, framing, pacing, style, and emotional beats.
The tools execute your decisions.
Aronofsky just showed the world what happens when a real filmmaker embraces these tools early.
Now it’s your turn: use the same principles, the same “director first, tools second” approach, and start building high‑end productions of your own with AI.
If you could tell any story with high-end production, what would you do?
