NO.3 Reading
In order to make everyone understand the importance of active use of consciousness from various perspectives, Dr.Pang quoted relevant content from different classical books to support it. Let's take a look at the original text.
“The role and main significance of consciousness are explained more deeply and concisely in "Dan Ting Zhen Ren Chuan Dao Mi Ji":
‘The Golden Elixir's Great Essentials state: All actions originate from the mind. Sound, sight, smell, and taste are all governed by intention. Where intention leads, there is action; where intention stops, there is cessation. Thus, when seeking elixir and collecting lead, meet them with intention; when bringing fire into the cauldron, send it with intention; when refining and bathing, guard with intention; when warming and nurturing for rebirth, complete it with intention. Hence Mr. Cui wrote in the Mirror of Medicine: "Within a day, at any hour, anything the mind reaches can be achieved." This is the essence of the greatest essentials.’
As can be seen from the above quotation, the whole process of practicing is the process of mental activity, but the intention used in practicing is a higher level of mental activity than ordinary mental activity.”
This passage draws on Daoist alchemical practices, emphasizing that consciousness must actively guide the entire cultivation process. Rather than focusing on the technical details of Daoist alchemical practices, the crucial point—often emphasized by Dr. Pang—is the final instruction:"Within a day, at any hour, anything the mind reaches can be achieved."
True spiritual cultivation means integrating practice consciousness into daily life. Whether walking, sitting, lying down, eating, drinking, or even during work or rest, we should consciously apply awareness to every moment and situation. Maintain clarity and awareness: reflect when events arise, let go when they pass. Avoid attachment and don't get trapped in the whirlpool of thoughts. This is the essence of true practice—the advanced form of cultivation.
