I don't have grass at my place so when I take the dogs for a walk on grass the thing that seems to excite them most is the grass. They don't often lunge at other dogs (though they do some times) or people or bikes but they pull on the lead to sniff the grass. Is that a thing? I do scent activities with them during the day. I scatter feed, give then snuffle balls, hide kibble under balls in muffin tins, etc. Do all dogs do this?
