πŸŽ₯ Walk & Talk Q&A Replay – Chicken & Rice, Excited Wee’s & So Much More
This one was a good one. We covered: β€’ Why vets often recommend chicken and rice β€’ Why some dogs pee when they’re excited β€’ What’s really going on underneath those behaviours β€’ And a heap of real world questions from the community If you’ve ever felt confused about what to do next, this replay will give you clarity. Jump in and watch it back. Then drop your questions in the comments and we’ll keep the conversation going. 🐾

Another good talk. Maizie has also been an excited/nervous pee pee girl mostly with males but can be with anyone new. She has definitely grown out of it a fair bit from learning confidence & some calmer greetings & exposure I guess. She still does it with my hubby, more so when he comes home from work but not all the time. What would you suggest in this situation to help her learn not to do it? Also you asked about dreams/goals. When I got Maizie I said I wanted to be very different with this dog & really work on training her so I could have a calm & obedient dog that could easily be in our lives & I could take most places & it be a pleasure & easy without being a nuisance basically. I planned to do puppy school & then join the local (Albion Park dog training) group & go to classes regularly because I thought they are affordable & I could continue to go for years if I wanted to so I could get an awesomely trained dog. Little did I know Maizie was going to be as difficult as she has been & so that idea went out the window & I quickly became a Walkys member just to try & survive each day with her. Lol🀣🀣 So my absolute dream would be to have Maizie as well trained as all of your dogs. So you 3 & your dogs are my goals & dreams. Right now this does feel totally unachievable 🀣🀣🀣 but honestly I'd settle for half as good as yours. I've met & seen @Sian Isaac & @Lex Stephens dogs & assume yours @Nath Morrison are as well behaved/trained also. πŸ’œπŸ˜Š
πŸŽ₯ Calm Collective Replay: Structure Creates Calm
If you missed today’s session, this one matters. We broke down how to build real calm through structure, not hope. Crate at night. Place bed during the day. Clear routines that lower arousal and build impulse control. We covered: β€’ Why some dogs never truly switch off β€’ How overnight crate sleep resets the nervous system β€’ How daytime place work teaches calm around real life β€’ The difference between tiring a dog out and teaching them to regulate β€’ What to do when protest barking, restlessness, or pushback shows up This wasn’t about quick fixes. It was about building an environment where calm becomes predictable. If your dog paces, barks, struggles to settle, or feels constantly β€œon,” this replay will give you a simple, structured plan to start immediately. Watch the replay, apply the 7 day plan, and then drop your questions below. Calm is built through repetition. Let’s tighten it up this week. 🐾

@Nath Morrison look, call me stupid but I'm also trying to find your pdf or plan of yesterday's session & I thought I downloaded the link at one point & now can't find it anywhere. I'm one who doesn't retain all the info & likes to go back to a step by step instructions of it so I can start this week. I've tried a little bit today from remembering from yesterday but definitely need a plan to follow. Please explain again where I find this or how to download it. Sorry. LolπŸ€£πŸ’œπŸ˜Š

Hi, this week I've felt a shift in Maizie a little & even the slightest improvements make a huge difference to our day. If you've seen my comments previously or know Maizie you'll understand just how much this means to us as she's always been so over excitable, very poor impulse control, a lead puller, nervous, anxious, a jumper, barker etc etc. Lol 🀣 & often I've felt drained & overwhelmed but this week at 9 months old we have finally seen more calm, improvements with impulse control, definitely improving with place especially in the kitchen & duration, less having to reward with treats all the time & more engaging with me. Obviously still a huge work in progress especially with the jumping, barking, anxiousness in new places & lead pulling but I feel a slight relief there is a light at the end of the tunnel. 🀣 Just wanted to share this & thank all you wonderful Walkys team that have helped us along the way & continue to support us, as without you I would of given her up, now I definitely see a brighter future together with her. Thaaaanks πŸ’œπŸ˜Š

So we visited Maui today @Sian Isaac @Lex Stephens & although Maizie still not actually bleeding he was quite sniffy of her rear end today & so we didn't let them play & kept them on leads. When we left he sooked & ran around the house sniffing where she'd been & sooking for Maizie which he's never done before. So I'm guessing she's very close now. I think it's probably best if Maizie doesn't go to Walkys this Thursday & the weeks ahead until she's all done with her 1st season. Otherwise she'll upset all the male dogs or potentially have an accident that will result in puppies. LolπŸ€£πŸ’œπŸ˜Š

@Sian Isaac yes, thank you & I'll keep you posted as to when she'll be back. It's going to be a tough few weeks for us without Walkys & Maui & outdoor socialisation. Lol. At least we can still go for walks near my house that's often quiet during the day anyway. Today there was no one about & we even got some ball throws without me holding the end of the long line. So quite the freedom today (scary for me finally letting go. 🀣) but she stayed with me mainly because of the ball no doubt. πŸ€£πŸ’œπŸ˜Š
Calm Collective is on tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12:30 πŸ”₯
We are locking in real calm today, not theory, not quick fixes. If your dog struggles to switch off, paces, barks, or feels β€œon” all the time, this session is for you. You will leave with a clear weekly plan you can start today. Jump on live, bring your questions, and let’s build calm properly. See you at 12:30 🐾

Impulse control between multiple dogs
Archie and Ruby are demonstrating impulse control - Archie is asked to drop and wait while Ruby is playing ball. Impulse control is used in many scenarios when we have multiple dogs - think outside the square when training. Lex :-)

@Lex Stephens haha yes, I can definitely understand the overexcitment being a huge distraction. That's my Maizie girl most of the time. Does things fab at home with no distractions add something exciting (like a human, ball or child) then she has absolutely zero impulse control. Lol🀣 I'm really just spending my time working on the basics that are very necessary, we'll get to more things in the future maybe once we're great at basics. LolπŸ€£πŸ’œπŸ˜Š

I'm Jen, with Maizie the spoodle (mostly cockerspaniel). She's a challenging pup & Walkys is helping us immensely.
