I’m the parent to a 12 year old athlete who does triathlon and parkour. He just learned about modern pentathlon and is interested in getting involved but we’re not sure where to start. We live in western NY.

One year ago, my daughter Emily attended training camp with Olympic gold medalist Maia Weintraub. Last month, she scored her personal best results while facing off against Team USA at Summer Nationals in Portland, Oregon. Emily and Maia are set to return to training camp this summer, along with a cadre of international men's saber fencers. On Friday, August 21st, the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia will open its doors free of charge to anyone interested in pentathlon. You are welcome to watch high-level fencing and try using a laser pistol.
