Boolean SLICE two sheets - sometimes works sometimes does not

Yet the official Plasticity doc suggests you cannot Boolean Slice two sheets (very bottom of the page)
The only SHEET I can boolean-slice is if one of two involved sheets are "enclosed. See attached screenshot. I can boolean-slice 1st and 3rd sheet, but not the 2nd sheet.
It appears to me that Plasticity needs certain amount of geometry to be able to figure out what to do. I'm puzzled how Nikita does this in above ref video??
