GIVING IS GOOD....But:
But giving blindly can break you.
After Secret Millionaire, I was deluged with thousands of letters and requests for help from all around the world.
Every one of them tugged at the heart.
Every one of them a “good cause.”
But I learned quickly that if you try to help everyone,
you end up helping no one,
least of all yourself.
There’s a fine line between being philanthropic and being exploited.
You can give your time, your money, your energy, your emotion...
but if you give without boundaries,
you’ll soon find yourself empty, drained, and resentful.
That’s why I believe in having a strategy for giving.
Two days a week, I give my time freely:
...to my community, to charities, to those who genuinely need help.
But the rest of my week, I’m fiercely commercial.
Because you can’t pour from an empty cup.
Even within my “giving days”, I’m strategic and selective.
Who I give to.
What I give.
When I give.
And why.
It has to align with my mission, my values, and my capacity.
Otherwise, it becomes noise, and nobody wins.
People often mistake generosity for self-sacrifice.
But the truth is, if you want to give more,
you have to build more.
Earn more.
Grow more.
Be more.
Because it’s only when your glass is full
that you can overflow into the lives of others.
So yes, give.
But give with intention.
Give with structure.
Give from a place of strength, not depletion.
That’s how you create impact that lasts.
