🚨 Renters Reform Update
Here’s a clear breakdown of what’s changing:
• Section 21 “no-fault” evictions to be abolished
• All tenancies moving to periodic (rolling) agreements
• Rent increases limited to once per year (via Section 13 process)
• Tenants given stronger rights to challenge rent increases - Only one increase per year.
• Stronger enforcement on property condition standards
• Ban on blanket discrimination (e.g. against families or benefit recipients)
• Tenants allowed to request pets (landlords must give valid reason to refuse)
• New Private Rented Sector Ombudsman being introduced
• National landlord register/database to be created
• Updated possession grounds — landlords must use specific legal reasons to evict
I don't look at this as a bad thing as I believe it will tighten things up and remove the bad landlords from the market meaning more for us!
Any questions let me know!
