Writers block
I was researching writers/ creative block for a couple clients. I wanted to share some tips i found and see if anyone has tips of their own to share.
Writers block
1. Give yourself permission to write garbage.
- Set a timer for 3 minutes.
- Write.
- If you must. Write the word garbage. 🤣
- The inner critic is the block. It's fine but write anyway. The voice has a job but it's preventing you from even starting.
-Tell the critic it can do is job after.
2. Get in your space.. the chair.. the studio ..
your space
- Procrastination. Your space isn't perfect and procrastination will attack that. You're hungry.
You don't want to start so late. Etc.
- Get in your space!
- Sit or stand there.
3. Setting goals. Words per day. Not editing but getting it out and moving forward.
- Gets you into flow state.
- Everything needs a starting point.
- Pain, disappointment and fear are part of the process.
- Set the goal to be attainable not a stretch.
4. If you are still stuck. Get out of your space.
- Try something else.
- To learn. To be creative. To get some momentum.
- Write something different.
- Allow yourself to recharge.
- Sometimes the writing is happening behind the scenes..in your subconscious and you need a break from trying.
