Maybe You Needed This
I was praying over you all this morning on my commute to work. I asked God to bless your businesses, careers, and endeavors… … that whatever you put your hands to that it would bless those around you. But I was also stricken by this prayer. I realized that God’s will for us is not about the businesses we build or the careers we develop. His will for us is listed in 1 Thessalonians 5:18. “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” ‭ https://bible.com/bible/111/1th.5.18.NIV So, while I won’t stop praying for blessings on your work, I will start praying that the Lord fills you with gratitude in all circumstances. If you have a story of gratitude we can celebrate with you, please post it in this discussion group. I’d love for this to be a place where we can all share what’s going on in our lives, not just me.
Landed A Client Yesterday - Almost Didn’t😯
Crazy story! So, as ya’ll know, I’ve been in contact with a CPA firm owner who potentially wanted me to do bookkeeping for his clients. Had a call with him on Thursday. Wasn’t promising. He was price shopping me against others, so I knew I had to raise my status with him quick. So, instead of pitching my ability to do bookkeeping for him (which I didn’t know if I wanted to anyways😉), I said: “Tell me about these cleanups you have to do. Are these other guys doing them for you?” “No. I don’t trust them.” Boom! That was my chance. So I started speaking to the pains he might have with that. “Sounds like you’re growing your firm fast. How do you plan on focusing on getting clients if you’re the only one that clean up books? That might work for now, but it seems like you will be time constraint pretty quick at the success you’re having?” He paused. “So, can you do that? What do you charge?” Immediately, I went from a commodity to a value service. He signed up the next day. This is why you need to have multiple offers! If you don’t know how to do this. I Was Offered Work Last Night
Check this out. Last night, a CPA that I connected with on LinkedIn booked a call with me. It was kind of unexpected because my LinkedIn performance has been rough this week (all good though cause I’ve been focusing my efforts here😉). On the call he told me he had just started his CPA firm. I told him what I was building here. After about 30 minutes, he said, “I may have some work for you if you’re interested.” This came after I literally told him I don’t do outsourced bookkeeping. Why I’m telling you this: 1) Get. Active. On. LinkedIn. Today. We connected over 1 month ago and he reached out to me. LinkedIn produced that. 2) Bookkeepers, your skills are in demand, rest assured. You just have to learn how to market it. 3) Connect with CPAs. Even if you don’t do work for them, they often have more than they can handle. You can get great referrals there. 4) Join Collin Strachan’s community for optimizing your LinkedIn👇 https://www.skool.com/become-unforgettable/about?ref=16499aa3dc254c24b3194d39360f4f45 I still might consider doing work for him. But if I do, it is so I could broaden my experience and teach you guys about what I’m learning.

Share Your Wins and Flops Here
Here’s a recent flop for me: I had a prospect recently tell me that they wanted to work with me, but I wasn’t planning to charge them anything. They said the fact I was doing the work for free made them uncomfortable. They’d rather pay for the service. I refused. I said I didn’t want to monetize that specific service, but I would do it one time for free if they would consider sending me referrals. The sale never happened. Sometimes, free comes across as cheap. Food for thought🍌
