Thursdays in Black

Hello, gentlemen. It’s Thursday again today as I write this, and so it’s a welcome opportunity to observe the tradition of (and meaning behind) “Thursdays in Black.”

Today I am sporting an ensemble from Frank and Oak (headquartered in Montreal and New York): the charcoal-gray trousers are matched with the same shade of unconstructed jacket. The long-sleeve button-down shirt features a modern and bold geometric pattern in black and white. Those colors are reflected in the pocket square (also from Frank and Oak), with shades of black, soft white, and gray.

Ben Sherman cap-toe oxfords complete the look, along with argyle socks featuring black, blue, and gray diamond patterns. Accessories include a Celtic ring with small opal stones from TRIBAL Hollywood Men’s Jewelry, and my trusted men’s wristwatch from Stauer, with blue face and silver Roman numerals. Salt-and-pepper hair and beard would seem to match the rest of the ensemble. I’m wearing one of my favorite grooming products and fragrances — Black Crown Utility Balm from Beardbrand, with notes of mango, grapefruit, and apricot.
