Suggestions for a Classic

Ever since I fell in love with the Clancy Brothers (and of course Tommy Makem) I've wanted an Aran Sweater. I bought mine from Aran Sweater Market a while ago and was really excited to get it, but have yet to wear it save for this photo.

It makes me look 20lbs fatter, but that's to be expected with big sweaters, I can live with that. What I can't live with is how unbelievably itchy and uncomfortable it is.

I've read to put wool in the freezer to keep it from itching and things of that nature but that seems excessive.

I don't want to have a collar popping out of it and even most henleys are going to bulk it up even more. I'm leaning toward getting some really thin long sleeve tees, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has some ideas for me?

Anyone struggle with this? I love the sweater and the look, but I don't think I could handle a night out as is.

Side note: If the Irish call them Jumpers, why isn't it the "Aran Jumper Market"? 😎
