If anyone knows anything about splitting wood by hand, it's that it's usually easiest when the ground is froze solid and the wood is really cold. It was -7 when I started, and had warmed up to about 10 when I was done. Was a nice sunny day and not too breezy, perfect for getting some things done around home. I split and stacked that whole pile today, and should be set for the rest of winter. I only lost one piece wheeling that last big load into the garage!
