OOTD evening addition = hat; plus memory of my mother

Same outfit as this morning, but with the addition of a hat per

's suggestion.

I got this trilby hat at Target well over ten years ago and used to wear it all the time, but haven't worn it much in the last couple of years. It's polyester and thus doesn't feel great against the skin or hair, especially in the heat. But I do like the look of it.

Thinking just now about how much I used to wear this hat reminded me that I am wearing it in some of the last pictures of me with my mother, who died in the summer of 2021. When she was diagnosed with cancer six years before that, she took up improv comedy as a personal challenge/bucket list item. (She studied at the same improv club where my partner taught and performed until it shut down due to the pandemic.) The photos here are of me and my mother performing a scene together at an outdoor improv event about two months before my mother passed away. The Edelweiss tattoo seen on my forearm in current OOTDs is in memory of her.

In the last two pics you can see not only the hat, but also my daily summer uniform at the time of shorts and tank top (a far cry from the linen I tend to wear now!), as well as a 30-pounds-lighter me 😄
