CW = Critiques welcome!
Several vendor meetings today. While no need to be overly formal with a bona fide suit, I still represent the company and our clients during vendor meetings. That said, I may need to start incorporating seasonal coloring as a part of the AI outfit selection. This feels rather autumnal , but I do love the look of an odd vest and an odd jacket. One final note: I hate this shirt. The tab collar takes forever to button and it is nearly impossible to iron sufficiently to get out the wrinkles. I don't mind when linen does this, but it is loathsome on cotton.
Today's Look: Refined Earth Tones for Vendor & Contractor VC Meetings
• Blazer — DOJ-003 (Ralph Lauren Green Label): A luxurious camel hair blazer in a rich caramel tone with light tan horn-pattern buttons and notched lapels. The full paisley lining in brown, gold, and red adds a hidden flourish of personality, while the single rear vent and bilateral darts create a clean, tailored silhouette perfect for commanding attention on video calls with vendors and contractors.
• Shirt — DS-037 (Proper Cloth): A made-to-order mid-blue 80s 2-ply pinpoint dress shirt featuring a distinctive tab collar and French cuffs with white contrast details. The hidden placket and mother-of-pearl buttons deliver understated sophistication, while the tab collar ensures the tie sits perfectly elevated throughout the day—ideal for video conference presence.
• Undershirt — US-007 (Pro Club): A chocolate-brown heavy cotton crew neck undershirt that provides excellent coverage without show-through under the mid-blue shirt. Reliable comfort and a neutral foundation that won't compete with the outfit's warm earth-tone palette.
• Trousers — SL-010 (di Milano): Brown wool slacks with a subtle static-line weave and dark brown secondary tones that harmonize beautifully with today's earth-tone palette. Double outward pleats provide a classic, elegant drape with a break falling between medium and full—exactly right for business formality. These trousers deliver exceptional mobility (5/5) and all-day comfort (4/5). The matte finish keeps the look grounded while the subtle pattern adds textural interest that complements the houndstooth vest without competing. A true business-classic choice rated "In Person" meeting-suitable—ideal for impressing vendors and contractors.
• Vest — VWC-009 (JMI): A brown and black houndstooth cotton tweed vest with five black buttons and acetate lining. The classic pattern bridges the camel blazer and brown trousers beautifully, adding textural depth and visual interest that reads exceptionally well on video while maintaining business-casual versatility.
• Tie — NT-028 (Fort Belvedere): A two-tone golden brown and brown crunchy Swiss Cri de la Soie mottled silk knit tie with a square blade end. The 2.5" width and textured weave harmonize perfectly with the camel blazer's warm tones, offering a sophisticated yet approachable aesthetic for vendor discussions. The knit construction ensures a relaxed yet refined knot.
• Pocket Square — PS-017 (Fort Belvedere): A brown and blue paisley silk pocket square measuring 16.5" with light blue and tan accents. The paisley pattern echoes the blazer's hidden lining while the blue tones complement the dress shirt—a sophisticated touch that adds visual interest without overwhelming the ensemble. Presented in a casual puff fold to complement the textured fabrics.
• Belt — B-010 (Magnanni): A caramel brown leather belt with a slight swirl pattern and silver buckle. The warm brown leather aligns seamlessly with the camel blazer and houndstooth vest, while the silver hardware coordinates with the watch and shirt buttons. Classic Spanish leather craftsmanship at its finest.
• Footwear — DSh-012 (Johnston & Murphy): Burgundy Goodyear-welted wingtip Oxfords featuring medallion toe broguing and an almond toe shape—classic American craftsmanship. The burgundy pairs beautifully with the brown earth tones while adding a subtle pop of color that elevates the entire look. Toe taps and leather soles complete the heritage appeal.
• Socks — DSo-036 (Gold Toe): Brown acrylic/nylon dress socks that seamlessly bridge the brown slacks and burgundy wingtips. A very good fit ensures all-day comfort through multiple vendor meetings without distraction.
• Cufflinks — CL-005 (Trafalgar): Brown and tan cheetah-pattern cufflinks with silver accents that pick up the exotic texture theme of the knit tie and tweed vest. A playful yet sophisticated detail that rewards closer inspection during in-person follow-ups.
• Watch — W-003 (Fossil Neutra): A 44mm Fossil Neutra chronograph with a light tan sunray dial on a Havana brown leather strap. The warm dial tones and mid-century-inspired design are perfectly calibrated for today's earth-tone palette, while the chronograph subdials add subtle visual complexity that reads well on video calls.
• Pen — P-002 (Montblanc 149): The flagship Montblanc Meisterstück 149 fountain pen in black precious resin with platinum trim and an 18K gold BB nib. This iconic writing instrument signals leadership and precision—the quintessential desk pen for taking notes during contractor discussions.
• Business Card Case — BCC-002 (Fort Belvedere): A brown bison leather bifold card case with tan quilted interior and silver clasp. The rich leather patina and warm brown tones align perfectly with today's earth-toned accessory palette—ready for exchanging details with vendors and contractors.
• Ring — R-001 (Ellie's Jewelry): Platinum wedding band with diamond accents. The constant—a timeless symbol that transcends any outfit.
• Fragrance — FR-003 (Roberto Ugolini Oxford): A woody aromatic fougère extrait with citrus, lavender, aromatic herbs, woods, and subtle leather notes. Moderate-strong projection with 6-8 hour longevity—this "timeless Classic Gent" fragrance is tailor-made for business days with its versatile, office-safe profile. The barbershop/heritage vibe projects polish without flash, exactly right for vendor meetings.
