Holiday Boot Project
After my cowboy boot project, I decided to patina a pair of boots for my SIL. He wanted brown Chelsea’s and I found a good pair of Johnston Murphy’s on Poshmark. Since these were in excellent shape I did not need to refurbish them. I simply removed an oil stain and conditioned them before adding the patina. Rather than darker dyes or antiquing finish, I used dark brown and black cream polish in the areas I wanted to burnish. It took a a dozen or more thin layers to build up the darker color on the toes and foxing. I practiced on my medium brown loafers and the previously discussed chisel-toe double monks that I’m not in love with. I like both pairs more now. Would welcome your thoughts and constructive feedback!
