Good Evening Gents, Is Derby a jack of all trade shoe?
I am in for buying a shoe and from the videos and articles, I am not able to get a clear picture (perhaps there is none cause not everything is perfect or a perfect shoe for all events). I am not looking for "master of all" type but something that sits good for formal, semi-formal and casual events, like weddings, business, or just going to super market. But Derby and Loafers seem to be the first choice. I am leaning more towards the Derby with little brogues design at the cap but how well with they pair with Chinos?
So, what would be your go to choice for a shoe that you can wear with the following: Chinos, Jeans (straight and slim [not skinny]), and Suits (business and wedding). And I think dark brown would be the the color by default cause black and lighter shade fall on the spectrum of formal and casual respectively.
P.S.: I mostly work from home, I don't go out too often and hence, my question. Just something that won't throw the balance off. I mostly have pairs of navy blue chino's, some off-white, camel, black, blue, and brown jeans, grey charcoal suit and navy blue suit. Right now I just use my contrast sneakers (casuals) and black oxfords (formals).
Thank you. Good Night.
