So yesterday, as my wife and I travelled across Middle Tennessee, we stopped in the city of Jackson for some planned thrifting. In one specific store, as I always do, I perused the sport coat/suit coat rack. I always look in the breast pocket for a possible pocket square. For reference, over this summer I have literally looked through several hundred jackets during approx 100 trips at 20 stores. Prior to yesterday, I had seen maybe three pocket squares found in-jacket.
But at this particular store (Hunt’s Thrift) in searching 25 coats, I found five actual pocket squares, not counting a couple of the cardboard with cloth attached variety. What in the world?
Do Southern boys just dress better? Brian? Alex?
Sadly, none were of the quality that I’m seeking…100% silk, European made, ect. I know I’m being picky, but I would have to buy the whole coat to get the pocket square and I really want to add to my tiny collection of really nice squares.
I was just really amazed at the percentage of coats with pocket squares. Fun day!
Edit: Just to be clear, there was a little tongue-in-check humor intended here. I knew I was stirring up some friendly rivalry among certain geographic factions. 😁👍
