Hey Gents, hope you’ve all had an amazing evening, and sorry that I haven’t been super active lately, I’ve been really busy and am glad to be back!
Thought I’d start off with a pretty loose post to get some conversation going. A pretty recent event of mine was competing at DECA states, and the opening night I looked like a complete mess, I completely embarrassed myself.
For the last two days I looked great however. And I’ll go over some pointers, especially for my fellow younger community members.
To start off, blazers and slacks:
- Your blazer should end just below where the hip and the thigh meet, not halfway down your thigh and not resting on your hips.
- The sleeves of the blazer should be at most a half inch behind the wrist bone, which allows for some of the shirt cuff to show.
- Slacks should not fit loose on your waist, they should be comfortably fit and able to rest well without a belt.
- The inseam should be long enough to just have a half-break over the shoes, or no break, full break can look a bit sloppy sometimes.
- Always have a pocket square in your blazer or suit jacket, and make sure it matches the base color of your tie or shirt. They add depth and detail.
- Second to last, match your socks to either your pants or your shoes, I prefer matching to shoes, but this is adaptable to what look you want to achieve.
- Finally, ALWAYS have shirts and slacks pressed, no wrinkles if you can manage, and please at least have them clean.
Photos of my mistakes are shown attached to the post. Thank you!
