Be Aware Gentlemen
Good morning gentlemen,
As many of us on this journey have been working hard, we have changed in our styles, our acquired taste of things have changed , some have been blessed with increase in wealth and promotions.we have gained notoriety, friends, and relationships. One of the famous quotes “ With great power, comes great responsibility.”
This means gentlemen, you have to be aware that many now look at you differently, people that knew of you and have seen you progress and obtain all kind of things. And there are some that you do not even know that have seen you and now they noticed this change in you and therefore you are now a target in their radar. Whether it’s in person or even financial or identity theft. Gentlemen be aware of your surroundings, when you go places walking to your car stay off your phones and see what and who is around you. Know the areas that you are in and around you. I personally never take the same route home. and the closer I get to my home I look to see who is behind me had how long they have been behind me. I might even drive past my home just to make sure. When I am walking I notice who is around me and if certain people seem to frequent the same places that I am going and how long they have been behind me. If I noticed something suspicious I will not stop to buy what I was planning at that moment especially if it’s of value. If you purchase large and expensive items do not place the empty boxes outside on the curb in front of your house. Take them to a dumpster away form your home, so people who might be casing the neighborhood don’t see that you purchased expensive items in your home. This is definitely important around Christmas. Now having said this, a lot of people do not know this but there are places that you can have your packages delivered and you can go and pick them up to avoid porch pirates taking your packages. Also when you are purchasing something and you are using your debit card or credit card, before you slide the card into the matching whether its at the gas pump, or especially in convenience stores looks at the card reader to make sure that it has not been tampered with. Also when you are putting in your code make sure others around you cannot see you enter it. Because of they can get a hold of your card by slight of hand or force they will have your PIN number to access it.
When you are leaving work or a store especially in the late evening, late night, or early mornings, check the area around your vehicle prior to getting in and also look in the the back seats before getting in avoid parking near bushes or other obscured places . Avoid pulling out large amounts of money in public, take out only what you need. This is especially important if you have your family or significant others present with you, nothing is more of a target of opportunity when they can use someone you care about as collateral.
And if you do become a victim, give them what they want, your life is not worth anything of value that is material or monetary. That stuff can be replace, you and your loved ones cannot. Take the time to secure and protect your home and family. Teach your family and friends how to be aware of their surroundings. Now I am not saying that you have to go out and buy a weapon, if you do that is up to you. I carried one in the military and in law enforcement for a long time , but I also learned self defense tactics and martial arts, and I rather use those things if I can avoid taking a life. But this is just my personal opinion as a minister now.
Gentlemen be aware, protect you and your family. Teach them to be aware and what to do in situations, and above all nothing material or monetary is worth losing a life.
