Applying the Three Color Rule
Today’s outfit gave me a lot of flexibility because the wheat/tan textured sport coat, lavender check shirt, and medium-gray trousers create a sophisticated neutral foundation. I chose a rich cognac shoe because it complements the warm undertones of the jacket, while creating a pleasing contrast against the gray trousers. They pickup the casual elegance of the textured fabric, and most importantly they work equally well in office business casual settings. To complete the ensemble I’m wearing a matching cognac belt, a steel watch, light lavender patterned socks that tie in the shirt and pocket square.
Given the texture of the jacket, suede loafers might be the most stylish option of all. Why? The combination of textured jacket and suede footwear feels intentional and refined rather than overly corporate. However, because I had several business meetings, I opted for the oxfords. When it comes to business meetings and fragrances, the choice is obvious - Creed Absolu Aventus.
