I've just built something exciting!
Okay team, I've just built an interactive kit list designed for beginners and seasoned pro's alike - basically anyone that needs a wee hand organising themselves! The app has a variety of sections with kit underneath laid out with check boxes for you to click once you have packed the item. As you progress there is a tracker that will upon completion reach the ๐Ÿ”ฅ and let you know you're ready to go! You choose your activity and then crack on packing and ticking off the kit list, it couldn't be easier to stay on track! What's cool? I've got ADHD so I've built it with this in mind so it has some awesome functions such as: Focus Mode: This takes you through each item 1 at a time so you can pack it and move onto the next. Essentials only: If you're looking for the bare essentials for most trips, it will take you to just Safety Kit and the Wear & Carry sections. Get them packed first then move on. Toggle if required: You have the option to toggle yes/no if you need an item or not for your trip - this makes it bespoke to you and your needs. Dopamine fix: Every box you click will make a satisfying little noise and the same at the end - gamifying it slightly to keep you interested. Saves progress: We all know that whether you have ADHD or not, we can become distracted, so the app will save your progress as you go, so you can pick up where you left off! Not on the list? It even has an option to add your own items for a more bespoke trip! ๐Ÿค  I'm giving the first 5 people to comment on this post FREE access after then, it'll have a wee cost associated with it, so get in quick !

The 5-5-5 Rule
Another handy resource to keep in your rucksack for when situations arise that you may ruminate on (overthink or obsessively return to). It's also useful in outdoor scenarios! Let's have a look. The 5-5-5 rule looks at giving you a framework to pose questions to. 1. Will this situation bother me in 5 minutes? - What has happened? - Pause and take 5 minutes to consider the situation, possible challenges and solutions - Is the situation significant enough not to ignore and move on? If yes, then consider your next move. 2. Will this situation bother me in 5 days? - Consider, if you were to carry around the weight of that situation or the outcome, how would you feel in 5 days? Confident? Upset? Worried? Angry? - If it will sit with you for 5 consecutive days - move to considering current solutions to the challenge 3. 5 Years - will this still matter in 5 years? - Is this a risky situation whereby the negative outcome will still be with you for 5 years or potentially impact you / others for another 5 years? - Consider the mental load of carrying a poor decision or actions for 5 years - Will it even matter in 5 years? Will people move on and forget about it? These are all useful questions to pose to yourself when considering actions to a situation whether it be outdoors in terms of making decisions or in daily life in terms of coping with conflict or other difficult situations. Hope it helps ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ ~Step Outside, to Reset Inside~

Resource Drop ๐Ÿช‚
This week's free resource is up for you guys. It's all about STOPP - a method that we can use in times of distress or in adverse situations outdoors. As always, there are links to both. This technique gives us a chance to pause, take a moment to observe and gain perspective on the situation before making a more informed and rational approach. Giving the part of our brain that perceives threat, the opportunity to allow our prefrontal cortex to rationalise what is going on. Example: We're out on a multi-day expedition, we've lost track of where we are, light is going quick, weather is coming in and now panic starts to creep in. Stop - Take a knee, take on some water & sugar then get the map out. Take a breathe - This calms the nervous system passing our threat response onto our rational brain. Observe: Notice how you are feeling and take time to go through the feeling. It will pass. Then observe your surroundings, the map and features in the land to attempt to make sense of it. Pull back- Put in some perspective, what is actually going on, what could you do to help yourself in this situation? Maybe you need to set up camp, maybe you need to head back to the last known location. Look at the bigger picture. Practise what works - Make a plan, based on your experience, the current situation and your skillset and choose the best option for the situation. I hope this helps folks, it's been a great tool in the past for me and if it helps any of you out, do let me know in the comments. I am keen for feedback ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ
