Q&A is happening in 13 days
Hey Ya'll Here's a thought for today :)
Sometimes we hurt ourselves because we take toooooo long. For example, when a client asks you to send and invoice or a quote & if you wait days or weeks to send it they'll find someone else. But the damage doesn't stop there, What you don't realize is this $10k project was a $100k relationship of multiple projects - but the person that they found instead of you is getting that money. YOUR MONEY. Avoid this trap by sending quotes & contracts within 24 hours (48 hours max). It doesn't need to look pretty - your speed in getting them what they need, is worth 100 beautiful proposals. Love ya'll & Happy Friday !!!
Our Company is GROWING! - Here's what I learned
Hey ya'll - previously I posted in here after not being her in a while. I've been doing time studies and it's been making me more efficient with my time because A. I know how much time I need to fully focus so if i'm not in that environment - I don't even try and that actually saves me time. for example - I'm not editing unless I got 4 straight hours to do it. If I have less time i'll do other things that need to be done. B. I learned that planning before doing something is more important than just doing it - personally I'm more poised and effective when I know what to do next and when I prioritize & plan. When I have trouble determining what's important I ask myself will it matter in 10 years. if it don't it might get done next week. C. Multitasking isn't real but Managing multiple projects IS. I've learned a system (from Ali abdall that helps me change priorities to help keep all my projects moving forward. And I know that in a perfect world where I've got all the time in the world doing one thing at a time makes more sense but chile... My life aint setup that way. I got a growing team, I got a gut 😂 & 10 other things that need to move forward every week. Overall I've had the most peace in terms of work in a while which is funny because at the same time things feel more chaotic than they've ever been. How ya'll doing?
Hey guys how’s it going!?
A couple of things. 1. Honestly I feel SUPER guilty for not showing up in here everyday. 2. I’ve been overthinking showing up everyday. Not wanting to do so without having a lot of value to share. 3. RDM (my production company) is growing and we’re looking for more editors. :) 4. I miss ya’ll. Okay that was a few things. What ya’ll been doing? You been on my mind a lot.
Good morning! How are ya? + I have a new tool that is doubling my productivity.
Hey guys, How's your week going? Any wins or things that are exciting. The tool: Time Studies The past several days I've been infatuated with doing time studies - basically documenting every 15 minutes of my day, EVERY... SINGLE... 15 minutes of the day. Through that process I've been able to review my productive days and my unproductive days. Here's a couple of things that I learned from the time study - My most productive days are when I take the time to plan and then execute my plan. - My unproductive days are when I don't plan properly and when I talk on the phone + i end up scrolling and browsing the internet in general. But on my unproductive days I'm trapped because i don't want to plan. Why? because it's going to take me at least an hour and a half, and I already feel rushed to be productive that day because I already slept in cause I stayed up too late the night before. But now I KNOW(because of the time study) no matter what time I wake up I'll be unproductive without a plan So let me know your thoughts, and if you're interested in doing a time study, Heres how. - Get a spreadsheet. It can be Google Docs or it can be an app on your phone(you only need 2 columns - time of day & activity. - Set a timer on your phone for 15 minutes and repeat it every 15 minutes. - Write down what you do, what you just did, every time the timer goes off.
