The Secrets of Master Salesmanship - by Napolean Hill
This is a great book, or collection of articles, and a must read for anyone mastering selling. This small book is found with your welcome package when joining Secrets of Success.
Parts 1& 2: These start off, as much of Hill's work does, with the conditioning of the mind.
The first requirement of any salesman is to keep your mindset positive, especially during any selling. Hill points out that a sale begins in the mind of a salesman before any sale and must be transferred to the buyer before any selling can begin. A good bit of time & detail are spent in how to condition one's mind through auto-suggestion in "which one keeps the mind busily engaged with the circumstances and things one desires and off the things and circumstances one does not desire."
Hill set up "invisible guides" [or subconscious-reminders] to give direction, guard his mind & protect his soul. The 8 areas of his life that the guides were put in charge were his sound health, financial prosperity, peace of mind, faith, hope, love, romance, and overall wisdom. It is so important for one to be positive & clear in these areas of life to maintain balance and integrity.
The 9 basic motives of human behavior that must be activated (or the thought planted, as Hill put it)
for a sale are outlined along with the 7-basic fears and examples of how they are used. Again, the importance of a positive mindset cannot be stressed enough, and Hill emphasizes,
"Those who wish to allow themselves to be influenced by the word impossible are welcome to their privilege. Personally, my philosophy of life is founded on the word Belief ...
