Do you feel overwhelmed?🥵
Ever looked at a to-do list so long that it made you want to go back to bed? You know that, right? Yeah, that’s decision paralysis. When we’re overloaded with options or tasks, our brain just freezes, and instead of doing anything, we do nothing. It feels like you are a deer in the headlights.
I know that feeling. I would feel that overwhelming feeling of bombardment when especially in the beginning of new projects. I worked as a Game Developer where I was responsible for creating the whole software blueprint of the project according to poorly designed “Game Design Document’s”.
Of course, I had to first understand the project but every time I would feel overwhelmed by the large size of the task (like I had never done that kind of project before lol) and then would feel the need to crawl back home 😅
Yeah, I can laugh at myself but of course, back then it was a really anxiety-inducing feeling and I would have that urge to procrastinate so very much.
What you and old me would need to do is just simplify. Break that giant list or task into bite-sized tasks. So that it would feel like it would take just a minute or two.
Feels small, right? You are thinking what this guy is blabbering about? I can do more than that. Okay, yeah you are the perfect guy so 30 minutes for you. Happy? Focus on the “concept” not the “numbers”.
Anyway, you need to focus on one thing. Just one. Once you’ve tackled that, move on to the next. No more thinking about the all steps. Just focus on the next step. You have done the planning and it has gone. If you can achieve this, which is a simple concept, your brain will thank you.
