Calling All Lonely Visionaries: How to Find Your Integrator and Unlock Your Business’s True Potential
If this helps just one visionary entrepreneur out there, it’ll be worth it. For 14 years, I knew something was missing. I’d been in business since I was 17, constantly pushing forward but feeling lonely. I tried bringing on partners—people I thought could fill the gap—but it never worked out. I gave away portions of businesses to people who either couldn’t keep up or had the same skill set as me. It was frustrating.
I hit a ceiling, specifically at the seven-figure mark—$88,000 a month. And then, bam—cashflow issues, stockouts, operational problems. It always felt like the wheels were coming off because I just wasn’t great with the details.
Finding Lee: A Game-Changing Partnership
Then I met Lee through a mastermind group, in a community much like this one. We connected over the book Rocket Fuel by Gino Wickman, which talks about the visionary and integrator dynamic being the “rocket fuel” for a business. Funny enough, we’d both read the book at the same time without knowing the other had.
We took the test: I scored 98% as a visionary and about 60% as an integrator—but that 60% was purely out of necessity after years of forcing myself into a role I didn’t enjoy. It drained me, and I was never able to finish things to the level they needed. Lee, on the other hand, scored 97% as an integrator. We had a good laugh when I asked him, “So, you actually like doing inventory management and cashflow forecasting?” And he said, “Yep!” I was blown away. All the stuff that stressed me out was what he thrived on, and I was like, “Wow, I hate all that stuff!” He couldn’t stand the branding, marketing, and sales side—the things I love—so it was the perfect fit.
The Big Question
One day, I jokingly asked Lee, “Do you want to be my business partner? I’ll give you a big portion of the business.” He already knew I was doing seven figures, so he kind of laughed it off, thinking I wasn’t serious. At the time, he had his own business with partners. But two weeks later, he came back and said, “Were you serious?” That’s when we really started talking.
We went through a three-month “founder dating” phase where we tested the waters—working through business processes, doing personality tests, and checking that our morals and values aligned. And honestly, that was one of the biggest realizations for me: we both had such a similar moral and value structure. That’s something you don’t easily find in a business partner. Our brains were wired differently—mine for creativity, his for critical thinking and detail—but our values matched perfectly.
The Push-Pull Dynamic
This is where the magic of the visionary-integrator relationship really shines. I often joke about how I “make Lee sweat”—I’ll push for aggressive growth, scaling fast, pushing stock and cashflow requirements, and Lee is the one who pulls me back when necessary. He’ll say, “Yo, it’s time to consolidate, time to clean up. Things are getting messy.” It’s that push-pull dynamic that keeps the business balanced.
As a visionary, I would probably push growth to the point of cashflow or debt issues if left unchecked. But with Lee as the integrator, we have this rhythm where I drive us forward, and he ensures we don’t grow too fast without structure. Without him, I’d be running all over the place. With him, we’re growing smart, not just fast.
Meeting in Person for the First Time
The funniest part? We’d been in business for three years, working together online, and hadn’t even met in person! Earlier this year, we attended one of Alex Hormozi’s scaling workshops through acquisition.com, and it was the first time we actually saw each other in real life. It was such a surreal moment—realizing how much trust and growth we had built without ever shaking hands. I've included a picture below.
The Impact of Finding Your Integrator
This partnership allowed us to finally break through that seven-figure ceiling many times over. We went from a business struggling with cashflow and stockouts to one that’s streamlined, scalable, and built for sustainable growth.
If you’re a visionary who’s struggling to scale because the details are weighing you down, or you’re stuck in the weeds, trust me—finding your integrator is a game-changer. That balance can unlock a whole new level for your business.
You can even take the same quiz we did and see where you stand: Visionary/Integrator Quiz. Pop your results below and maybe we can help some of you find the missing link to finding your Rocket Fuel.
If you’ve felt stuck or lonely as a visionary, this might just be the missing piece you’ve been looking for.
