AI Prompt for eCommerce Product Ideas - Top of the Funnel
Is anyone taking the OFA challenge and in the ecommerce track? Or do you sell physical products as part of your funnel.
I used Trey Lewellen's advice to build this prompt. This is my current iteration and can be improved (this is v3 for me). I thought someone else might find it useful:
STEP 1: PUT THIS PROMPT INTO CHATGPT, COPILOT, GROK, AND COPILOT (yes, all 4):
Take on the role of Russell Brunson, entrepreneur and sales funnel expert. Please describe the qualities of a great physical product you can sell using his software ClickFunnels at the top of the funnel.
***********************
STEP 2: DO THIS IN ALL FUNNELS
With that in mind, take on the role of an ecommerce manager who wants to replicate Russell Brunson’s success. You're looking for the next big product you can sell to your audience of [***DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONA***]. I want you to think about all the items these buyers might purchase while [***NICHE***]. I want you to give me a monster list with as many items as you can think of, aim for a minimum of 250, that meet the following criteria:
1. Small in size - it shouldn't be much bigger than a man's hand. It can be a little bit bigger - perhaps as big as a paint brush you'd use to paint the house or a tumbler, but not much bigger.
2. Lightweight - it should weigh less than a pound
3. It should be durable - if it goes in the mail, you shouldn't have to worry about breakage.
4. It has only a single size. If you can change sizes, it should be adjustable, like a hat.
5. It has a perceived value of at least a few dollars. We're not talking about junk, but something people would buy and use in their home. But we don't want it to be too expensive either - nothing over $50.
6. It should have some sort of utility or use that is appealing to most people. A flashlight, for example, would be used by a lot of people regularly. Or it could be something that might be an impulse buy, like a sticker or a magnet or a coloring book.
7. It should be part of a specific hobby that focuses on collectables but more general use. For example, charms used to identify wine glasses would fit in this category but a baseball card wouldn't.
8. It isn't food nor perishable.
9. It is small enough to fit in an 14.25 x 20" bubble mailer.
Please put this list together. Once you have the list, please double-check it against the criteria to ensure everything fits all of the criteria. If something doesn't fit all of the criteria you've been given, please eliminate it from the list.
If you have any questions, please ask and I will answer it for you.
Thank you.

STEP 3: ALL FUNNELS AGAIN (output will vary widely). Copy-and-paste the lists from ALL outputs into each AI engine.
Remember everything we talked about before, including the role and expertise you have. I put this same criteria into ChatGPT, CoPilot, Gemeni, and Grok. I want you to review all of the outputs from each AI software and look for which items or very similar items appear on the lists.
If an item or substantially similar item appears on 3 of the 4 lists or 4 of the 4 lists, I want you to put it into a single output for me. Use your best judgement to look at the name of the product and see if it is similar enough to be seen as the same. The output should be in a table format. The headers should be Product Name, Size, Weight, Durability, Single Size, Perceived Value, Utility, Hobby/General Use, Found In, and Ideal Product.
For your information, here is what each column header means. Product Name = Name of the Product. Size = give a brief description of its weight or a common item of comparable weight. Durability = its basic structure of what it is made of. Single Size = does it fit this criteria Y or N. Perceived Value = How much customers are willing to pay for this product. If you don't know, give your best guess. You can give a range. Utility = very brief description of what the product does. Hobby/General Use - who will use this and does it lean towards a particular task or activity. Ideal Product = Use your best guess as an ecommerce expert. You should look for items that have a high markup, high demand or potential audience, and can be mailed through USPS. Let me know if I can clarify anything for you.
The Ideal Product column of the table is the ranking you give each product from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best. Column five's rating is based on how much demand there will be for the product, how profitable it is, the odds of it turning into a viral product. No more than 20% of the items should be ranked 5. No more than 20% of the products should be ranked 4. No more than 30% of the products should be ranked 3. You can rank the remaining products as a 1 or a 2 based on your expertise. Please list the items ranked 5 first followed by 4 then 3 and so on.
Let me know if you have any questions. If you’re unsure whether product names are substantially similar, please ask me.
****************
That's it! Your lists will contain different items. Use your best judgement to filter through them and select which ones you want to pursue.
If you come up with any improvements, please share them.
