Baroque Draping
I just purchased and watched the virtual baroque training. If was very helpful. My questions: The up an over raw fabric has to be the same length on both sides right? If I’m doing a 16’ backdrop would that up and over fabric need to be more than 32’ to create swags? The fabric that’s over is the foundation(back layer that just hangs straight), and the top layer creates the swags right? I guess I’m trying to figure out for a 10x16 backdrop, with 10 up and over panels, that’s a lot of length. Maybe that’s when you get into cutting as you go?

Event Time
So, this weekend I was active with 2 setups, and both setups taught me something. 1. Create a timeline for each area that needs to be completed before the event starts. 2. Ensure you have enough staff for breakdown and recheck rental time to ensure you are out at the time stated in the contract. 3. Make sure pain pills and water are near, especially when heavy lifting is needed. 4. Last but not least, try to keep calm, no matter how bad the situation may seem. Trust the Vision!!! What are some tips you can share to help others? Also, what is your go-to item that is non-negotiable on setup day? (mine is music)

Prep before event??
This might seem like a silly question, but does anyone prep their crossbar before commuting? Do you hang your drapes before and then just fix them at the event? Travel with the drapes on the crossbar only… I know you can do it with balloons. Just was wondering if you can do it with the drapes?
Lesson #3 - Fabric 101 - Lesson learned!
The one thing that I learned (that I forgot about) was about the velvet panels and right direction. This actually happened to me at a recent event and I thought that it was the venue lighting. I did not see the difference in the mock-up created at home before the event. Now, I know to sew pockets on both ends of velvet. My husband and I seemed to be the only people that noticed. That actually happened because I had to change the design at the venue (in Tampa) because I had been given the incorrect measurements for the space. My question was answered in the video.
