When a “Simple” Data Import Became a Real Challenge 😂
My first real Salesforce internship task was:
Clean and import Redwood Care Group Account data.
The brief sounded simple :
Clean the CSV, remove duplicates, fix formatting, standardise fields, then import everything into the Account object using Data Import Wizard.
The problem ? I had never done it before. 😅
Before the internship, I was still around the Data Management and Data Security modules, with only a little knowledge of Salesforce data analysis.
So this task became my first real experience with:
✅ Data cleaning
✅ Identifying and removing duplicates
✅Standardising data
✅ Field standardisation
✅ CSV preparation for Salesforce
✅ Fields mapping
✅ Data Import Wizard
✅ Importing Account records
✅ Verifying whether the import actually worked
It was truly a baptism by fire. 🔥
And it did not get approved immediately after spending a whole day on it !!!
I submitted once. Revised. Submitted again. Revised again.
Finally, on my 4th submission — APPROVED. ✅💃🏾 (Imagine the candles I burned just trying to meet deadline)
That moment I realised :
You don’t always have to feel fully ready before you start. Sometimes the practical experience becomes the classroom.
I learned more by doing, making mistakes, receiving feedback and correcting them than I could have learned by only reading modules.
That first task gave me the confidence to face everything that came after.
If you’re following my internship journey, like and comment I’ll keep sharing the tasks, mistakes, revisions and lessons.
Happy midweek, everyone! 🌟
