I think you can configure the read only access on the share option. So you go to the folder that contains the report and then select only the view option and share with the user Another way I’m thinking is to give them read only access to the records of the object used for that report and let’s see

🤣oh really tell me more … Why it won’t work ? I’m thinking🤔 or if the user has read access on the report checked and can run a report, it should work right? or maybe If profile doesn’t permission set may work ?

🧠 Who Can Fix This? – Weekday Brain Teaser
The Hackney Sales Team in London is in chaos. Reps from Camden and Islington are somehow able to view and edit Hackney’s Opportunities — even though these deals are highly sensitive. But here’s the twist: Hackney’s team also collaborates with the Legal Team on deals above £100,000, and Legal needs read-only access to those high-value Opportunities — but nothing else. Even worse, Hackney’s Manager runs reports and sees Opportunities from all teams — making it impossible to track Hackney’s true pipeline. You’ve just been hired as the Salesforce Admin to untangle this mess. The business wants: ✅ Hackney Reps can only see and edit Hackney’s Opportunities. ✅ Hackney Manager sees all Hackney records, but nothing from Camden or Islington. ✅ Legal can see only Hackney’s Opportunities worth more than £100,000 — and read-only. ✅ No impact on Camden or Islington teams’ visibility into their own records. 🧠 How would you fix this? Be specific. Which features would you configure and why? Drop your solution in the comments below 👇 #WhoCanFixThis #BrainTeaser #DataSecurity #PathwayToSalesforce

To fix this his chaos 1. Hackney Reps can only see and edit Hackney’s Opportunities: Set the OWD of opportunity to private and make sure the Hackney sales team profile has read / Edit access only checked on the opportunity object. Then create a public group and share records based on owner and specify that records of the sales team must be shared with the sales team with read/edit access 2. Set up role hierarchy for the various teams. So a hierarchy for Hackney where the Hackney reps report to their manager. And then set for the other teams . Since the grant access to hierarchies is automatically checked for opportunities, the Manager will see all records of the Hackney reps and nothing from the other teams. 3. I’d create a sharing rule using the criteria. Amount greater than £100,000 Share with the public group created specifically for the legal team and select read only access This way , I’d have successfully resolved the Hackney team’s chaos is and Camden & Islington teams won’t have any visibility of their own records. But I’m opened to work for them as well .. 💪in case their orgs are in a mess!
