Process wins!
Just wanted to share what following the process looks like! If people in here are on the fence about making this their full time job, I made the jump in early March to go full time into this. We had our first baby in October and my wife was very skeptical/nervous, dare I say excited, about the whole idea of me quitting. I have been bouncing between jobs about every 8-10 months, and this last job was 90k salary with killer benefits, but I was battling depression, low energy, and just wasn’t myself. I sat down with my wife, showed her my plan, and I went all in. In Austin’s starter scorecard I had a goal of my first 3 months going 10, 20, 30k in revenue. Currently, around 3 weeks into April I will hit 60k in revenue, which is 6 weeks ahead of my plan. Long story short, it works. I look in this group every day for motivation and I see some great people doing amazing things. Asking questions. Taking feedback. Moving forward. Generating results. @Austin Gray ’s community here is fantastic, and I can’t help but feel thankful and alive this Easter weekend! I feel that we are all hard nosed, hard working individuals, and I pray that we all find peace, success and something to pour our work ethic into! Big things coming in 2026 for this group!

@Justin Surine She was hesitant! Leaving a sure thing with benefits after having our first kid was super scary for her. And it was thru FB ads! That’s the way to go! 90% of my revenue comes from that lead source

@Jason Scholze Thank you so much for the kind words. Trusting in the lord will show us the way! I started at 50 per day. Now I’m down to around 40. I will look up my total ROAS when I get back to my office.
Love facebook ads
I’ve ran Facebook ads for 10+ years in real estate and now running ads for forestry mulching I’m glad to see something’s don’t change. The comments are always the best. This guy left a non kid friendly comment on my ad and I had to laugh at it.

I had a comment saying “Get out of Idaho, we don’t want you in our state!” For context I am a born and raised 5th generation Idahoan. Some people crack me up.
STARTER WINS
Here are my calculated crew day rate and minimum job. I know I'm behind on this, I've been pretty busy with jobs coming in. Crew day rate: $2358. Minimum job size: $1000 for really local jobs.

@John Tyznik Good stuff, welcome to the grind! Just starting off it is okay to have your minimum job at your crew day rate, but not lower. After mob and demob, you’ll hardly break even with a 1000 job with a day rate of 2300. As the leads come in from your target customer, (and they will eventually!) you’ll want to set it at 2-3k. I had a mentor once tell me “We’re only in the business to make money, and if we aren’t making money there isn’t any reason to be in the business!” For example my day rate is 1600 and my minimum job is 3000. If it’s close I upsell certain aspects (tree felling, soil conditioning, surface grading, debris piling) to make it to 3000.
My first job
I recently completed my first project, and I’m looking for some guidance on how to handle the situation professionally. The original scope of the job was estimated to take approximately five days. However, the client expressed that they did not have the budget to support the full project, so we agreed to scale the work down to fit within a two-day timeframe. I completed as much of the project as possible within those agreed constraints. Since then, the client has expressed dissatisfaction, feeling that the amount of work completed does not match the cost. From my perspective, the work performed was consistent with the reduced timeline and agreed-upon scope. How would you recommend handling a situation like this in a professional manner, while maintaining a good client relationship and setting clear expectations moving forward?

@Matt Maycroft Education is always my go to. Make sure they they understand how the scope of work changed and what they were actually dissatisfied with. I had a similar situation with a client that needed a fence cleared. I told him that I can do it, I’ll clear 6-10 feet back of the fence, and get him a great start. I made sure to have in writing that we get within 12’ of the fence. Keep in mind this property had 14 years of neglect. After I was done doing everything I could with my skid steer and by hand, he still asked the question “why are there still trees on my fence?” I told him that the trees were larger than the scope of work, and the trees that I had to fall by hand were only necessary to continue working safely. 2500 quoted day job, he wanted to pay like 2000. I couldn’t give him a 20% discount on something that I knew I did 110% from what I said I would do, but I didn’t want to argue with him. So I told him that i understood where he was coming from, but I couldn’t discount my quoted price. We went back and forth discussing some things and then my verbatim was “Okay, I don’t normally do this for customers, but I will make an exception with you. I’ll give you 200 off from the 2500 for a total of 2300.” And he wrote me a check for that. You will never satisfy everyone, but you want to communicate that you’ve done everything you can do and then some from the original scope of work. Sometimes it be like that.

Moving MOUNTAINS
Good morning OWNR OPS! I have a problem and I seem to be going in circles with, I was working on setting up my GBP however they flagged something during the process and I'm not tech savvy per say, I have tried using the chat box to gain information on how to go about resolving this issue. Has anyone else delt with this situation before if so, how did you get it resolved? Google claims they have emailed me about the matter however they have not and still had not. Very Frustrating, feels like I'm hitting every issue possible building this company. Thank you for your time and advice toward this matter, God Bless
