I am set for Reading material for a while.
This has been one month for our Notary Authors offering their goodies. Bill Soroka has a 5-book bundle available called "The New Notary Starter Library." For those wanting to renew or become a member of CLIN (California League of Independent Notaries), they have a book bundle which includes Laura Biewer's new book, just out a few months ago, called "The Compassionate Notary," and a book that CLIN President and Judi Lawrence co-authored in 2024 called "The Apostille Agents Survival Guide. Bill Sorokas bundle is a great deal at $99 and includes his online course, The Sign & Thrive Notary Training Course, for free. The CLIN Bundle gives away the books for free, at the cost of renewing or starting a CLIN membership for the month of May.

This one caused a full re-sign 🫣
A deed was completed and sent back… But it got rejected Reason? ❌ The notary didn’t include the venue (State & County) That small detail meant: • The document couldn’t be recorded • The signing had to be done again • Everyone involved had to go through the process twice To make it more complicated, the signer is now in a different state (FL), so coordinating the re-sign isn’t as simple as before All of this… for one missing line Reminder: The venue might feel like a small thing, but it’s critical for recording. 👉 Have you ever seen a document rejected for something this small?

Quick reminder on this one 👇
We’ve seen this document come back signed by the notary… when it shouldn’t be 😅 This “Important Information About Customer Identification Requirements” form is NOT for the notary to sign. 👉 It’s for the Settlement Agent Easy mistake, especially when you’re going through a full package and trying to make sure everything is completed. Tip: If you ever see “Settlement Officer” or similar wording, pause and double-check before signing anything. Not every signature line is yours 👀 👉 Have you ever come across a document like this and had to double-check who signs it?
