Week Focus: What Mental Training Really Means
Most athletes think mental training means “trying harder” or “being tougher.”That’s not it.
Mental training is learning how to understand yourself, manage your body, and train your thoughts the same way you train your swing. This week we focus on building that foundation.
If You Missed the Last LIVE Session (Quick Summary)
In our last session, we introduced the three pillars of elite performance:
  1. Master Your Craft – Skill development still matters. Confidence grows from preparation.
  2. Manage Your Body – Energy, breathing, posture, and routines shape performance under pressure.
  3. Train Your Mindset – Thoughts, focus, and emotional control determine whether skill shows up when it matters.
We also discussed the two pathways of improvement:
  • Self-discovery – Understanding your triggers, reactions, and patterns
  • Consistent practice – Repetition of mental skills just like physical reps
Mental training is not a quick fix. It’s a daily practice.
This Week’s Training Assignment
1. Reflection (5 minutes) Ask yourself:
  • Which part of my performance do I train the least — skill, body, or mindset?
  • When pressure increases, what usually breaks first?
2. Action (10 minutes) Before one practice session on the range this week:
  • Take 3 slow deliberate breaths
  • Say your performance intention out loud (example: “Commit to every shot.”)
  • Begin practice with full presence for the first 10 balls
3. Community Homework (Due before LIVE class – Feb 24) Find one video of a famous athlete talking about the importance of the mental game and post it in the community discussion tab.
The Big Idea for the Week:
Champions don’t separate physical and mental training. They integrate them.
Every rep you take this week is an opportunity to practice both.
Weekly Question for Athletes:
If your physical training improved 20% this month but your mindset stayed the same, how much would your scores actually change?
P.S. For those of you who want to join us, we are hosting our Monday Fearless Fellowship tonight 2/16 at 8:00pm (ET). Swing by as we talk through FEAR and what it means to us in a spiritual sense.
