Spatial Awareness Striking Drill
This is an amazing drill as everyone always strikes coming forward BUT when the pressure gets applied most people don't like striking backwards. This allows you to work on punching power, balance/weight distributions and using angles

MMA Class #8 🥊
In this specific MMA sparring training I applied specific rulesets on the members getting them to focus on specific areas of their game. I reward them in a fun way to where if they land a takedown then the other person has to do burpees. (Incentivising them to go for it) Aside from that, having the body shot ONLY rule in effect ensures safety AND for the IMMAF Youth World Championship they have this rule in effect. So if any of our young members want to compete in that in the future it's a great way for them to practice! 💯

Todays sequence: - Jab to the head - Jab to the head and Cross to the body - Feint the cross to the body and come upstairs with a leaping left hook to where you level change and get a double leg takedown - As we land with the legs tied from side control we lace the in the Dagestan mermaid - Person on the bottom creates frame and doesn't allow them to fully capture it, limping and electrocuting themselves on the way out to build height and get to a striking position - Once they are back up on their feet they engage in striking to where the original partner shoots out of fear of getting hit - We prevent the shot from happening by getting double undercooks and getting our leg back, we jack them up and they can EITHER (dis engage and strike OR re engage and grapple)

In todays sequence we covered: - Partner disguises a single leg takedown attempt off of a punch - We defend by placing the foot of the leg they picked up around the opposite thigh whilst misguiding their head and cutting an angle "chasing the tail". Once we get behind them we push off and break free to either strike or re engage onto the grapple "on our terms" - Next, we shoot the single leg and take a back step whilst brining the opponents leg to our outside really high opening an avenue for the inside trip - Once we land the trip it's important we control the legs (otherwise we will get up kicked), as we control the leg we swiftly move the legs to our side and strike with the same side arm to progress in position and force them on the defence - Next, we program a single leg shot to make the opponent think about it. Then, we feint the single leg shot and place our lead foot on the outside. Giving us a nice angle and opening as they defend for a spinning elbow. - Similar the one before where we program a single leg attempt (they defend and the next time we show the takedown attempt) we level change into an uppercut and chain it up with a beautiful outside lace takedown (one of my favourite energy efficient takedowns 💯) - Ending the class off with some fun wrestling style inspired warm downs using bodyweight exercises! 💪
