Digital Twin Builder (Preview). A New RTI Item Added in Microsoft Fabric

Microsoft Fabric has introduced a powerful new item under the Real-Time Intelligence (RTI) workload: the Digital Twin Builder (Preview). This feature enables users to create digital representations of real-world environments—such as buses, stops, or IoT systems—by modeling entities and their relationships. It’s designed to optimize physical operations using streaming and contextual data.

Key capabilities include:

Entity & Relationship Modeling: Define domain-specific entities (e.g., Bus, Stop) and map both time series and non-time series data to hydrate them.
Semantic Canvas: A visual interface to build ontologies and link data sources.
Eventstream Integration: Seamlessly ingest and contextualize real-time data.
Real-Time Dashboards: Visualize KQL query results without relying on Power BI.

This addition empowers users to build rich, real-time digital twins for scenarios like transportation, manufacturing, and smart cities—bridging the gap between streaming analytics and operational insight.
