Two Years I Almost Wasted — And What They Taught Me
For two years, I kept telling myself: “I’m learning.” “I’m preparing.” “I’m not ready yet.” I spent most of my time consuming content — watching videos, taking notes, learning strategies. In 24 hours, I worked more than 12 hours some days. But here’s the painful truth: I was consuming, not executing. I delayed applying for jobs.I avoided client outreach.I stayed away from Upwork. Why? Because I was chasing perfection. I kept thinking: - “My English isn’t perfect yet.” - “Let me practice one more month.” - “Let me become fully ready.” - “Let me learn a little more.” And that “one more month” turned into two years. 💔 The Real Problem It wasn’t laziness. It was fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of not being good enough.Fear of making mistakes publicly. Sometimes I felt disappointed in myself. I used to be a university topper.People used to say my mind was sharp. And I started asking myself: “What happened to me?” “Why am I stuck?” At night, I would pick up my prayer mat, talk to Allah, and cry in sujood.I told Him everything in my heart — my fear, my confusion, my frustration. And somehow… after those moments, I felt lighter. 🌅 The Turning Point One day I realized something simple but powerful: Hassan, stop multitasking.Stop consuming extra content.Start executing what you already know. I didn’t lack knowledge.I lacked action. I didn’t need another course.I needed courage. That day I decided: - No more waiting. - No more perfect timing. - No more “next month.” Start now. Lessons I Learned 1️⃣ Don’t Chase Perfection If you have enough knowledge to start — start. 2️⃣ Stop Waiting for Tomorrow Don’t wait for next month.Don’t wait for perfect English.Don’t wait for perfect confidence. If you wait, two years will pass like mine did. Start now. 3️⃣ Talk to Allah When You Feel Lost If nothing makes sense, speak to Allah. Tell Him everything.Your fears. Your weakness. Your confusion. Slept: 12:35 AM Woke up: 5:00 AM ✨ Reminders Consistency > Motivation Time is valuable 🎯 Tasks for the Day Watch God Creation Video 14 Complete at least 5 dummy bids, Insha’Allah Focus on video editing 🕓 Day Breakdown 5:00 – 6:00 AM Prayed Tahajjud, had Sehri with family, and prayed Fajr. 6:00 – 7:00 AM Scrolled through the community, wrote my journal, got ready for school, and prepared to leave. 7:00 – 7:30 AM On the way to school. 7:30 AM – 1:10 PM At school. 1:10 – 3:00 PM Prayed Zuhr, completed house chores, and watched God Creation Video 14. 3:00 – 5:00 PM Slept. 5:00 – 6:30 PM Watched half a video, prayed Asr, read the Quran, and helped in Iftar preparation. 6:30 – 8:00 PM Had Iftar, prayed Maghrib, recited Surah Al-Waqiah, had tea, and talked with a friend. 8:00 – 10:48 PM Set up and installed software, completed dummy bidding, and posted in the community. 10:48 – 11:30 PM Watched a drama. 11:30 PM – 12:25 AM Prayed Isha and Taraweeh. 🌿 Wins of the Day Watched God Creation Video 14 Completed dummy bidding Read the Quran 📝 Reflection Today, I felt burnt out and physically and emotionally exhausted. Despite feeling very tired, I did not refuse to complete my tasks. During Ramadan, my routine and sleep schedule have been unstable, which is contributing to fatigue and emotional sensitivity. However, I am proud that I remained consistent. Insha’Allah, I will prioritize my health, improve my sleep routine, and continue working toward my goals with balance and discipline.
