Looking for some advice
I have a third gen Camaro. The build was 6.0 LQ9 ATK short block with 243 heads and BTR LS3 cam, Fast 92, etc.
Motor broke pistons 5 and 7 after about 300 miles. Both pistons had broken lands between top and bottom compression rings. ATK blames detonation. Piston manufacturer estimates ring gap and butting ends. Shop said pig rich (it was dyno tuned).
Going to a local rebuild shop. Should I:
- rebuild and enjoy it with a couple new parts I purchased: Motion Raceworks throttle body, ICT Billet 4 port steam kit, and Mighty Mouse catch can. Purchase new hypereutectic pistons, polish the crank, balance it.
- Stroke it to 408
