Jack Torrance, a struggling writer, takes a job as the winter caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel, bringing his wife and son along. As snow traps them inside, the hotel’s dark past and supernatural forces begin to unravel Jack’s sanity. Meanwhile, his psychic son, Danny, experiences terrifying visions and uncovers the evil lurking within the hotel. Jack eventually descends into madness, turning violently against his own family.
